No Monday Mischief Here - Just a Birthday Giveaway!

Monday is Rita's third birthday (Whoohoo! **blows noisemaker**), which is a Super Big Deal since our sweet angel Abby never even made it to 3. (Poor Ab.) So, to celebrate - we did lots of fun things on Sunday, and we are having a giveaway today!

We celebrated on Sunday since The Daddy has to work on Rita's actual birthday. (Actually... we have no idea when her birthday is. But the rescue guessed her birthday was somewhere in June. We were going to pick the mid-point, but that's my brother-in-law's bday, so we picked the 16th - which is her angel-cousin Lou's birthday, so a pretty special day!)

We went for a lovely walk. (I confess, this pick is from Saturday, but we did almost the exact same walk on Sunday...)
A lovely day for a walk!
And on our walk, we stopped at the local pet store (that tries really hard to only stock US-sourced treats/food. Hooray!) and Rita got a selection of treats.
Spoiled, right?!

The nice lady threw in a bag of mini Zukes, special for the birthday girl! (We love mini Zukes - and hope you do too... hint, hint).
Rita getting excited about her Zuke Minis!
The Honest Kitchen Beams were a big hit! But the living room smelled like fish for a bit... And the dog became "Baby Fish Mouth," which is what we call her when she has fish breath. (Gold star for anyone who gets that movie reference!)
A trick of the camera... I swear her teeth are not big enough to eat you!
Rita also got a fun toy for her bday.

Don't tell her... but I've had this hidden in a drawer for ages. She's not really a destroyer so her toys last forever, so I stashed this when we won it a while back... Shhhh!

Then she had a lovely nap, and THEN... for the pièce de résistance, which she did not resist one bit!, we went to In N Out burger and got her a Flying Dutchman!

It was a pretty darn good day!

Now... here's the fun part for you! (I hope...).

We're giving away:
1. A 1lb bag of Zuke's Minis in the roasted chicken flavor. (Made in the USA!)
2. An adorable picture frame (holds a 3 1/2 X 5 photo):

3. And your choice of a print copy of either of my books. If you've already read them both, you can give it as a gift to a friend. (So, you can get a really early jump on that Christmas shopping!)
You pick - RESCUE ME, MAYBE or WHAT THE DOG ATE!
Just answer in a comment below (I won't bother to make you do the rafflecopter thing!) if you give your pet a wrapped gift and/or special meal when it's his/her birthday.

Giveaway is open to US and Canada only (sorry other international peeps!), and the winner will be picked using Random.org next Sunday. You have until noon PDT, Sunday June 22nd to enter. Winner will be announced next Monday! (Either remember to come back and see if you won, or make sure I know how to contact you! If your comment profile won't lead me to you, please leave an email address!)

Thanks to Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Alfie’s Blog, and My Brown Newfies for hosting Monday Mischief!

  2. My greyhound doesn't get a wrapped gift but he gets a special outing to the local ice cream place for a "doggie dish" of vanilla ice cream garnished with a dog biscuit. Thanks for a fun giveaway,

  3. Happy Birthday, Rita, Woof! Woof! Our pets usually get a special treat for their birthday and maybe a new toy but we don't bother wrapping them. Would love to read RESCUE ME, MAYBE. Hope we win the giveaway!

  4. I don't wrap the gifts, but the dogs do get gifts. I made a peanut butter, bacon carrot cake for Jedi's first birthday too.

  5. All wrapped anything in this house has to be kept above small dog level. Anything wrapped seems to bring out the devil dogs in them which is really all right because it gives me an excuse not to wrap which I don't like to do and pick me, pick me.

  6. I wrap Beamer's Christmas presents and shove it in his face to get him all excited. Then he tears the paper up :)

Happy birthday to the beautiful Rita! It looks like she had a great day. Here's to many more birthdays!

  7. What a great day Rita had - those are some of jack & Maggie's favorite treats. Of course we have a big celebration - we've combined Jack & Maggie's birthdays or 'Gotcha Days' since we adopted them around the same time of year - different years, but both in July.

  11. Woo-hoo Rita! That looks like one heck of a happy birthday and it so sweet of you (though if given a choice the treats may not be from you) to share the birthday giving joy!!!

  12. Oh, I was so excited about birthday wishes I forgot to answer the question and I guess enter- I wrap for Christmas but not for birthdays. There is no species discrimination on this wrapping laziness of mine. And I know I just lost a ton of possible birthday party invites with this confession.

  13. He gets a special meal but I don't bother wrapping his toys. He wouldn't unwrap it anyway.

  14. Happy Birthday, Rita! Looks like a fantastic celebration :-) My dogs do get presents for their birthday, but I'm a lazy wrapper, so they're in gift bags. Of course, they get treats! Plus, we all go to DQ where the dogs share a small dish of soft serve :-D

  19. WELL our momma usually has a little party and asked the grandmonsters over, we have treats, cake and hamburgers with cheese. Momma's grown kids think hers is off her rocker when she brings out the presents, but hers don't care. She toles them she is spending their inheritance on us...bahahahhahahah great treats Rita!!!!!
Now momma bought that felt stuff and spent almost 3 hours on my round body and tail, she is stumped on how to do my wrinkles in my face and how to make my head. Because I am so black it is hard to see much detail. No stabs to the fingers tho.

p.s. I don't think our needle kit came with different sizes.

  20. How awesome, it sounds like Rita had a wonderful day!! Happy Belated Birthday!!

We don't wrap the birthday gifts, but I do usually pick them up a little something special. :-)

  21. Happy Birthday to Rita! Sometimes the boys get a wrapped gift, sometimes not. Neither one is big on toys so mainly they just get treats. They always get a special meal.

I love to get them cute toys for their birthday! Sometimes, I'll get a big bow.

  23. A big bow.. Come on, can you tell I'm so tired? A big BONE.

  24. I do try to do something special for each of my furbabies on their birthdays (in most of the cases, we have to estimate a birthdate or use their "gotcha" date). I don't usually wrap their presents, and I get enough of something for all of them. It could be a pack of special bones I don't normally buy (due to price) or homemade goodies. I also try to spend some extra one-and-one time with the birthday pup or kittie. I have five Treeing Walker Coonhounds and three cats - all rescues. So, you can imagine we have something going on frequently at our house.

  25. Happy Birthday, Rita! What an awesome celebration she had, and how nice to do a giveaway too!
I don't usually wrap the presents for birthdays, Christmas only, and we usually have some kind of special treat, not necessarily a whole meal, though it could be some special canned food added to their regular meal.

  28. Happy Birthday, Rita! Yes, we celebrate birthdays at our house. If I'm busy, I buy a cake at the dog bakery, or if I'm not, then I make a cake at home. There are always presents, too!

  36. We celebrate birthdays & gotcha days for our dog and 2 cats - we give extra special treats, new toys & the occasional puppy birthday cake for a pawty :) Happy Birthday to Rita!

    ReplyDelete
  37. We celebrate Gotcha days instead of birthdays (because we don't know birthdays). Our pets certainly get a special meal, usually a treat to share with the rest of the crew like a cake or cookies. We usually only do wrapper gifts for Christmas but if it's a milestone birthday (like 10!) then do gifts.

  42. Hey Rita

Happy Belated Birthday Buddy! You sure cleaned up all the food, what a great time you had!

I'd love to say I do as well on my birthday, but I don't get any special meal (maybe a few more treats) and I'm lucky if I get a gift - I'm gonna write a complaint to management! :)

Glad you had such a fab day,

    Your pal Snoopy :)
