Today, January 14th, is
National Dress Up Your Pet Day. Or, as dogs and cats like to think of it,
National Complete Humiliation Day. (Dogs everywhere today are thinking, "Why can't there just be a National Double Your Treat Intake Day!?")
I have known/seen some dogs that seem to get a kick out of dressing up, because of all the extra attention it brings to them. They're affection
whores hounds, so they dig it. And I also know there are fine-coated pups out there in colder climates who need to don a coat now and again.
But, in my experience, most dogs who are subjected to playing dress-up, tend to end up making a face like this:
 |
"This is humiliating. Especially since it's The Chargers. I hope this isn't going on Facebook." |
Or this (even if you just try to stick to a simple hat):
 |
"Seriously?" |
I admit... I did attempt to dress Rita up as a Warrior Princess, to have a little Monday Mischief fun
and to celebrate our beautiful angel Warrior Princess.

Our Tripawd Warrior Princess |
But Rita had other ideas:
 |
"Guess again, Momma." |
She was determined to not wear the princess tiara. And she made me chase her down and offer her a treat before she would give it up again.
What about you? Do you ever dress up your pet? When you do, do they look like they might be plotting to smother you with your pillow in your sleep?
I always have to laugh at the dogs that look so embarrassed to be dressed up.
ReplyDeleteRita is not amused! :)
DeleteI only dress them up for Halloween and Christmas. Corgis definitely do not need winter coats other than their own fur!
ReplyDeleteAnd if looks could kill, I died back on the 1st Halloween/Christmas Wilson was with us and every one since!
Yes, as you can see from the photos, we get the "if looks could kill" looks too!
DeleteHm. We only wear antlers and sombreros here.
ReplyDeleteOooo, dang. Rita needs a sombrero!
DeleteOMC. You guys are hysterical.
ReplyDeleteYah! We love to make people laugh and smile!
ReplyDeleteHaha Oh YES, Daisy hates to be dressed up! We only put a Halloween costume on her and reindeer antlers at Christmas, but she also hates winter coats (which she needs). And oh boy, does she ever scheme against us! :)
ReplyDeleteRita is a smart doggy!!
ReplyDeleteI got super lucky today as my Mum didn't realize she could have got me to join in too - phew!!
My main event is halloween, I'm sure hoping next year I get to be a super hero, it's about time!! :)
Big wags,
Your pal Snoopy :)
