Okay, The Dog Snuggles Sometimes

Last week, I said Rita's not huge on cuddling, but my sis reminded me of this other sweet photo of Rita and Reg almost having a cuddle a previous time that Reg stayed with us:

And they almost cuddled in our bed together as well once:

So, she does cuddle sometimes. Even her mom and pop sometimes. And we sure love it when she does!

In Other news...
I wrote an essay on 13 Ways Writers are Like Dogs, which was posted on the Manhattan Book Review. Stop by and check out the silliness.

Happy Less-Wordy Wednesday!

    1. Luckily the cold weather is coming so maybe she'll be more snuggly soon! :)

    1. They're very cute - but neither pose lasted very long!

  3. If Rita is stingy with cuddles you appreciate them even more when she deigns to give them. I'm off to find out why I'm like a dog although i might guess

  5. Haha! I especially liked "We spend significant chunks of time looking like we’re doing nothing" from your essay. I do feel that way sometimes. :)

I love what Jan said about Rita, those snuggles and cuddles are very special.

    1. Glad you liked that one!

So true about her cuddles being special. We get so excited ("Look! She's cuddling me!") when she comes to sit/sleep by us.

    1. Yeah, since it's rare around here we always reach for the camera!

    1. Rita sometimes comes in the bed with us for a while before we get up - we LOVE that when she snuggles us a bit in the a.m. before it's time to get up.

  9. I used to have a part-time snuggler. I used to be suspicious of B when she first came to live with me because of how snuggly she was. Now I just love it and can't believe I went for so long without a full time snuggler. Although I loved that part-time snuggler fiercely - probably because she made me work so hard for her affections. :)

    1. Yeah, we have to work pretty hard to get her to snuggle us too. We beg her to sleep with, but she gets up and goes and gets in her own bed every night after getting her "bedtime treat."

    2. That must make you feel so cheap and used. ;) Blueberry usually does that to me in the summer when it is too warm for her to sleep on the bed. I will entice her with a treat onto the bed and as soon as she scarfs it down - she ditches me.

  10. Mr. N is pretty cuddly but he usually prefers being right next to you vs on top of you.

  11. Bailie and I are non stop snugglers, and Mom loves it. It probably means more with a girl like Rita since it rarely happens.

    1. I probably wouldn't want her to snuggle non-stop - after all, sometimes it's way too hot for snuggling here - but we love it when she does snuggle!

  12. Kelly does not snuggle with Ike very often, so I know that it's special the times that they are close. This is so cute!

  14. They all have their moments! This morning Cricket had her head resting across Sheba's neck...not something we see too often with the two girls. I couldn't get my camera fast enough though, darn it! Off to read your essay...it sounds fun!

    1. Awww, cute. Once in a while our beagle would snuggle with our mom's beagle, that same way with her neck across Sugar's neck. Love.

  15. What a precious picture. Booker T isn't much on snuggling, but Cassius likes to...let me amend that, he doesn't really cuddle and snuggle as much as he just lays all over me.

  16. Cuddling / snuggling is a selective PAWsonal thing. Some like it a lot and others can take it or leave it LOL

  17. Rita is just picky with her cuddles and snuggles! For the record, I don't do cuddles, but I do snuggles! There is a difference ;) Will send the Staff to check the article!! We are curious to know!!

    1. Hmm. Yes I guess there is a difference! She does like snuggles. Especially if an ear or face rub is involved!

  21. So adorable! I love how you care of your dog. I have a dog too. Her name is Lucy. But it hard to take her picture. She never focus to the camera. Love your picture.
