Less Wordy Wednesday: An Update on Adorable Adoptable Pups

Ages ago (siriusly... ages - it was way back last June...), I posted 2 pics of buddies Gus and Ricky, who were up for adoption at Helen Woodward Animal Center where I volunteer. I asked you guys to come up with captions and (some of) you guys came through!
From Amy at Terra Toby: Bus: "Right here?"
Ricky: "A little lower…to the left…ahhh right there!"
From Talent Hounds: "This seat's taken!"
I figured I should update y'all on these two.

The good news, Ricky got adopted! Yah, Ricky! He went home with his new furever family a few months ago.

The bad news is.... Gus is still at Helen Woodward.

Whoever ends up adopting him will get a great dog, and also a fabulous footstool.

Now, I don't want you to think I just put my feet up on the dogs when I'm tired, cuz I don't! But Gus likes to walk under my legs once in a while - I think it's his oh-so-subtle way of telling me to pay more attention to him. But he's TALL so he can't walk under them without lifting them up.

He can be a bit anxious with new people, which is why he's been there so long (over a year). But he's a real sweetie when you get to know him. You can learn more about Gus, and watch a cute video of him working on his training and agility here.

There's a woman who's come by a couple of times to see Gus - and she even brought her own dog once to meet him and they did well together. Fingers crossed that she'll come back for him!

Please send pawsitive vibes for Gus to be adopted soon!

Happy Wordless Wednesday! Thanks to BlogPaws for hosting!

  16. This is why I could not volunteer where you do -- he would have been home playing "footstool" in our den by now.

  17. I'm so happy for Ricky, but sad that Gus hasn't found his home yet. He sounds like a big sweetie and his personality sounds like Luke's. People need to know that shy dogs can be the most loving once they have warmed up to you!

  20. I hate to see dogs in shelters period, but when it's for extended times, it just breaks my heart. I wish I could help them all.
