The weather in San Diego this afternoon while I type this is 87 degrees.
Yes, it's still technically winter but we've had record heat for the past three days, stomping the old records. According to one local station, Saturday's high of 90 degrees is the 7th hottest March day on record going all the way back to 1874. Crazy!
Rita and I are not huge fans of this hot weather. Especially not in winter, when it should be cool!
We still managed to get our long walks in this weekend, but we were both SO hot and we had to cut our extra-long Sunday walk short. Not fun.
At least she found a good stick on our one walk...
...which she carried for a good long while...
...until she found a nice shady spot in some grass to chew on it.
Hopefully we'll get a reprieve this week. In the meantime, we'll try to stay cool!
Is the weather up to all kinds of crazy mischief where you're at?
Thanks to Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Alfie’s Blog, and My Brown Newfies for hosting Monday Mischief!
OMG!! This heat is crazy! We are up in Fresno and our walks have to come early so the pavement doesn't get hot and scourch our paws!! Stay Cool! (it's weird say that in March) ;)
ReplyDeleteIt IS weird to say that in March! I'm sorry you are also feeling our pain - but I'm glad we're not in this boat alone! :)
DeleteIt is still a Canadian winter here but after the coldest winter on record, it is getting warmer.
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy how you guys are having the coldest winter on record while we're having the hottest/driest. ugh. Can't things just even out??
DeleteWe are in the midst of a reprieve- or better yet, the start of Spring - but our winter was beyond mischief. In fact I put a weather map on FB a few weeks ago showing that we had the coldest weather in N. America at that time. So I'm actually ready for some of that hot weather! In SoCal I hope you are back to those perfect temps again soon :)
ReplyDeleteI think So Cal had the hottest weather in the US this weekend. I wish I could send you some of our hot temps! :)
DeleteWe have had a very mild sunny Winter and now an early Spring so we are not doing too badly. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Sounds like you've had much better weather than we've had here in the states!
DeleteWow! That is some crazy heat! I totally hear you about trying to blog on an iPad! I tried that a few weeks ago and I just wanted to poke my eyes out!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it the worst? I can do a few edits and things on there, but to do a whole post is next to impossible!
DeleteHate this heat and hope it goes away soon, for our sake and Rita's.
ReplyDeleteI heard it's going to drop 9 degrees tomorrow and another 10 the next day! Whoohoo!
Deletewell I hope it cools down by you but I am so happy for the spring sun
ReplyDeleteretro rover
I wish I could send you some! We have a little too much of it! We've skipped spring and gone straight to summer.
DeleteGood heavens! That's insane! We're grateful for sunshine and mild temps right now. Our yard is squishy, and the rain will return mid-week, but we're enjoying the sun while we can!
ReplyDeletewww.dogtreatweb.com
Oh, I wish you could share some rain with us! We need it so badly!
DeleteGood grief, that's just not right for San Diego. It's that hot here, but we are in the desert. Stay cool my friend.
ReplyDeleteI know - it's like we're living in the dessert!
DeleteWell, I live in Arizona...so...you know how it is. :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the warmer weather - but I know that Blueberry isn't really a fan so we have been cutting our walks/hikes short too. A little frustrating for me since we had just finally worked our way up to longer hikes and I feel like we were ripped off since the warmer temps hit earlier than usual.
It is frustrating to cut the walks/hikes short. We haven't even done any hiking this winter because it's barely been cool enough for Rita to enjoy it.
DeleteIs it dry heat? At least that would help a little...How about going in the ocean? I would say I'd take your summer weather over our winter crap, but we had a nice mild weekend here. Highs around 50, perfect for dogs!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a dry heat, so that helps. I'd love to take Rita down to the ocean, but the on-leash beach (where she does better than the off-leash one) is only open to dogs until 9a.m. And we're too lazy to get up that early on the weekends. (Well, I'm not. I still get up at 6:45 every day - but the hubs and Rita like to sleep in!)
Delete50s sounds freezing to me! I like it to be 60s in the winter - which it normally is!
Wow I am in need of that heat! Hope it's not to hot.
ReplyDeleteIt was crazy hot again today, but supposed to cool down a bit tomorrow!
DeleteIt seldom gets too hot for us. That is why we moved to a place where spring comes in February and we keep the snow in the mountains.
ReplyDeleteOh, sounds like you live in a perfect spot!
DeleteWe've considered moving to San Diego but I am concerned about lack of seasons. I grew up in FL and do like the change of seasons here. The people are stand offish but the seasons move along. LeeAnna at not afraid of color
ReplyDeleteCole says... hi Rita.... love your stick... did you chew it ALL up?
We have a bit of fall (with some color) but it can often be ridiculously hot then too. Temp-wise, we really don't have much in terms of seasons - although most years we have our "May Gray" and "June Gloom" - if that counts as a season. :)
Delete"No, Cole," Rita says, "I didn't eat it all! I hid it and then came back for it the next day. But then I moved it and someone stole it!"
We've had crazy weather too! It's been pretty warm although not California warm and people here are talking about a drought too.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you were having a drought up there too. Terrible!
DeleteIt's warm for March but not like your warm. We are not fans of the heat here.
ReplyDeleteWe like our normal mild temps! Not too hot. Not too cold... We like JUST right! :)
DeleteHA! Try living in our NC neck of the woods and you're in for all kinds of weather mischief. It's truly crazy, we're experiencing a temperature roller coaster where it's freezing one day and then in the 70s the following day. ~SMH~
ReplyDeleteOh, that is crazy. We've only had a few really cold days. It's mostly been crazy warm/HOT here.
DeleteShe looks so cool in those sunglasses!! Haha!! 87 is ridiculously hot!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't she look so cool in her shades?! :)
DeleteCute shades Rita, you crack me up with your all kinds of...we use all sorts of over here. I would love that hotness.
ReplyDeleteI would be wiling to send you some hotness! :) (Funny about "all kinds of" vs "all sorts of") :)
DeleteJackie, I was laughing today at my neighbors (forgive me Lord) because it was 62 degrees and they were outside in tank tops and shorts. It wasn't that freaking warm..... tell Rita, she looks awfully cool in those shades!
ReplyDeleteOMD - 62 is wool sweater weather here! :) But it was SERIOUSLY tank tops and shorts weather this weekend here. Even flipflop weather - and my hubs hates wearing flipflops so you know it's got to be hot if even he is getting out his flipflops!
Delete87 is too darn hot...anywhere. It was supposed to be warmer for us last Saturday, but it wasn't. We were training and luckily I brought extra stuff because I kept layering up including hats and gloves!
ReplyDeleteI know that is too hot, and I'm really, really trying to feel bad for you. But the fact that it's been snowing off and on here for the last three days and the temperatures are plunging again tonite....no snow melt for the next 3 days....I'm having a hard time. :)
ReplyDeleteJan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
hello pooch smooches its dennis the vizsla dog hay yes that wuz sum crazy wether!!! i did git in a lot of nice sunbaything tho!!! ha ha ok bye
ReplyDeleteWell first, I have to say that I love that you used Siriusly. LOVED.
ReplyDeleteSecond, you could be freezing like we are. It snowed yesterday. On April 5th, Easter Sunday, it snowed. Send some of that San Diego heat my way. ;-)
