Monday Mischief: Ever Loved an Obedience School Dropout?

So... Have you ever loved an obedience school dropout? We have. Two of them, in fact. Both our angels, Bailey and Abby, were obedience school dropouts. Although that was the Momma's fault, not theirs. (Bailey's class was unorganized and we got bored, and Abby's class just wasn't a style that meshed with the Momma.)

But no more! We now have our first graduate from Obedience 1! Here she is practicing her down/stay. And she didn't even need to be coaxed into this position with treats!
She looks thrilled, yes? (She's actually just pooped!)

She was bummed about the no-party thing, but she did get a duck's foot to celebrate. (Apologies to Flea and her duck, Jimmy.)
She's also been practicing her new skills when I take her along to my chiro appointments. It's great exposure for her to new things and places and people, and she's been doing really well. She doesn't even get upset when the strange chiro man twists the Momma up like a pretzel!
So, where's the mischief you might ask? Well, I've got none today from my perfect graduate girl, so the Momma has a little human mischief to share.

First, I've heard some parts of the country have snow, so I thought I'd share a way-too-sunny shot of the beach that I took while out on our weekend walk along the coast.
If it's any consolation, we're supposed to get some rain on Monday. :)

In other human mischief, we went to my bro's this weekend. He is redoing their master bath, and insists he picked out the granite color because it matches their brindle mastiff, Leo.
A pretty good match, no?
DON'T FORGET - come back on Wednesday to get the linky code and join the inaugural Give Cancer the Paw hop! (I'll post it at 9pm Pacific time Tuesday night, so midnight east coast time.) Grab the badge from my sidebar and hop along!
Happy Monday Mischief!

  5. Congratulations, Rita!! There are no classes available near us, darn it! I love that granite! When that bathroom is finished can you snap a photo for us of Leo in it? (Yes, I'm serious.)

  7. Woohoo! Congrats Rita! I can tell by your face that you're thrilled as we all are. ;) Seriously girl, you make the best faces... and Momma knows how to capture them.
But mmmm... sweet, chewy, delicious duck feet! Surely that's worth an obedience class or two.
Ha! Matching the granite to Leo's brindle! But hey, that's not a totally bad idea. Now if we ever get new countertops, I'm going to look closely at Li'l Girl's dapple parts first :).

  8. At least you didn't have to wear a cap and gown, Rita. We know some people who posed their dogs dressed up like that when they graduated. Congratulations on all your hard work from four dropouts and a human slacker.

  10. Congratulations, Rita and Jackie! Fantastic job! Your comment about the chiropractor cracked me up. I used to take our German Shepherd mix, Andi, to a chiropractor who adjusted both dogs and humans. Mostly, the appointments were strictly for Andi, but once in a while I'd get an adjustment too. Andi would bark her head off during my adjustments. She thought for certain I was being murdered. Your weekend beach walk looks so wonderful! Jealous!

  11. Hi Jackie, I finished "Rescue Me, Maybe" last week and thoroughly enjoyed it! Well done and I look forward to "What the Dog Ate"!
I'll try to remember to check out the hop on Wed.- sounds very interesting. Certainly would like to see cancer get what's coming to it.

  12. I was top of the class in both my obedience classes but my sister Bailie is an embarrassment for mom. She just clowns around, but at home she is so well behaved and learns like an "A" student. She will have to take obedience one at least, Mom has plans for her and that is a basis. We shall see :) Congrats to Rita, nice work!

  13. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Hell yes I have loved an obedience school drop out, I live with one...DAKOTA! lol. Actually he is brighter than most of the dogs who were in his class. Dogs that listen when they CHOOSE to listen, usually are :)

  14. LOL on the dog's coat matching the granite!

Congratulation Rita! Good job you two! Nice certificate too.

You might be surprised to hear that there are people anxiously waiting for the first flakes of snow. :) The people who write the snowmobile trail reports are already making noises...lol.

  15. Roooo when I went to puppy classes all the other dogs got a certificate with the word 'pass' on them. I got one that said 'attended' *Waggy tail*. I was quite a naughty pup - but if I ever saw those other pups now, I'd give them a run for their money with all the tricks I've learned since *Waggy tail*. I love the second photo and the "I'm so above all of this" look!

  16. Congrats to Rita! I do mischief like yours...in January and February it's kind of evil when I post Florida beach photos but I just can't help myself ;)

  18. Well done Rita for being top dog in your class! :)

My Mum's first golden was a drop out, he got to level 6 of 10, then came the stay whilst Mum walked away, he always thought that meant time to run off and play with the other dogs, one time he even jumped the fence in the hall to get to the other dogs! Tee Hee

Then with her second Golden Mum had a broken leg when it was time to take him, so that didn't happen, but he was so perfectly behaved anyway he didn't actually need to go…..

And then there was me! I did go, I did pretty well, but we didn't do any certificates and I'm a Beardie, so we like to live by our own rules and if you want us to do something you'd better be good at making us think it's our idea! :)

I hope you got lots of treats as reward for all your hard work Rita - High paws!

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  20. Congratulations Rita and Mom! We've never tried obedience school, but if we ever get another puppy I'd like to. It's mostly just because I hate going to classes!
Thanks for the sunny ocean photo....I am now whimpering. :)
That's too funny about your brother's granite color matching his dog....I never considered the dogs for decorating ideas!
