Wordless Wednesday: Cookie Break. Or Not.

There's a house on one of our favorite walking routes that leaves out a bowl of water and a container of cookies for the pups. We usually stop with Rita to enjoy a cookie on our way home.
"This is my favorite walk route, Momma!"
Rita, being no dummy, obviously LOVES when we walk past this house. I recognize the cookies as being from Trader Joe's - they smell so good and molasses-y that I practically want to take a bite myself! (If our beagle was still with us, I'm sure she would drag us on this route every time we went out. There would be no walks without visiting this house.)

Unfortunately, when we walked by the other day, the container was gone and only the water bowl was out. Rita was... dismayed to say the least!
"They're usually right here, Momma!"
Maybe they were playing a little Monday Mischief on us... (I wonder if any dogs went to the door demanding cookies??) Rita just hopes the cookies will be back next time! (I've never seen the people who live here outside to thank them. One of these days we have to remember to bring them a little thank you card from Rita...)

Need a Puppy Fix?
For those of you going through a little puppy withdrawal after Monday's puppy-fest, here are a coupla Reggie pics to ease you down from the high of Monday...
Those feet! Way bigger than Rita's!
Those ears! Don't know how his skinny neck supports them!
Rita's going for a sleepover at Reggie's house on Saturday. It should be interesting...

Happy (almost) Wordless Wednesday!

  1. Rita's having a sleepover - how fun. Not to be negative nellie, but I was just reading about the poisonous meatballs being left around in SF for dogs to eat...so be careful!

    1. I always have to consider the worst possible outcome, no matter wht the situation, so I did consider that. But how dumb would they be to put poisoned cookies in front of their own house? and I also considered that maybe someone could toss some poison in there, but then the cookies would not be nice and crisp like they were. Pretty sure these are okay to eat. :)

  3. What a wonderful idea! Living out here in the sticks, I'm kinda jealous. I'd like to be the dog lady who leaves out the water and the treats :-)

  10. I love it when really nice people leave a little treat out for us dogs. When I lived in New York, some of the shops would leave little treats out in front of their store and some stores had them near the counter. And thus being a beagle, this was my favorite walk!

    1. There's also a pet store we walk by on another of our routes, and they sometimes leave a big basket of treats out front - at doggy level, so the pups can reach in and get them themselves!

  11. SlimDoggy has a point. The home owner may have put the cookies away BECAUSE of the poisonous meatballs. Might be a good time to introduce yourself and bring some real cookies. :)

    1. It's the burning question when we are out on walks -- when will he grow into those ears?? Of course, most people have never seen a Cardigan Corgi before. They come up with the most interesting mixes and tell us confidently that that is what he is. We, of course, know that one of the breed's distinguishing characteristics is those big ol' ears we love so much.

  13. This would not be a good thing with Delilah. She would eat all the treats and then break the door down for more. :-)

Maybe someone complained that the treats were attracting other animals besides dogs? You know, it's always one person who ruins it for everyone.

    1. You can't tell from the photo, but the treats are in a closed container with a lid that snaps shut, so I wouldn't think they'd be attracting other animals. We'll see. Maybe they were just out. Will report if they return!

  14. No cookies? Where did they go??? I hope the squirrels didn't steal them! I bet Rita is going to have some fun tiring Reggie out on Saturday. BOL

  15. I bet a BIG dog ate it all and drank all the water. Reggie is a cutie. Happy WW. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  16. Yep, it will be interesting. Big ears is so excited and counting the hours until Rita comes over for Saturday night fun.

  17. I live in the most popular Halloween neighborhood in the area and know how expensive it is. Maybe contributing a little box of treats to share with Rita's thank you note would be a neighborly gesture.

And if any of our neighbors did the same, Honey would never let me take another route. Glad Rita likes variety.

  18. That shot of those ears is the absolute best! Bummer with the cookies! We love Trader Joe's cookies too! We argue over who gets the squirrel since it is so huge!

  20. Aw, whoever lives in that house sounds like a very nice person. I'd totally do that too, but there have been too many stories of dogs getting poisoned in our area. I don't want to be a suspect in the dog poisonings, which are so unfortunate. A thank you card would be very nice!

And those ears are to die for! How adorable!

  21. I hope those cookies are out for your next walk!
Have a great time at the sleepover.

  22. That is so cool of those people! It's like trick-or-treating on Halloween everyday of the year... for dogs!

  23. Oh no! No cookies?! What a shame. :(
That is so very sweet of them to leave refreshments out for the pooches! I've never seen anything like that before. So sweet.

  24. How sweet! Hopefully they get to Trader Joe's again soon for some more treats!
Hope you have fun on your sleepover, Rita!

  25. That is so nice! What thoughtful people. You live in such a great place. Oh yes, my beagles would be beside themselves if we could walk there!

  26. Poor Rita, hope you'll get your cookie next time

  27. What? No cookies?! That's outrageous! I'm surprised there's not a line of doggies there refusing to walk another step until the cookies are re-instated!! :)

    Big wags,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  28. How great that you live in such a dog-friendly neighborhood. We hope for Rita's sake that the cookies will be back next time. :-)
