Mirth Watch Thursday: Love It? Hate It? Indifferent?

What are we talking about here on Mirth Watch Thursday?? The vacuum! Most dogs I've known hate the vacuum. Rita is afraid of it and heads for the other room when it comes out. (So I don't even have any pics of her with it.)

Abby, on the other hand, feared nothing and would attack it:
"You don't scare me, you noisy creature! Prepare for battle!"

How about your pups? Are they like these cats, who mostly seem to be enjoying the vacuuming in one way or another (including some possibly kinky ways...)
(So cute - but what the heck is that first cat doing? And the last one... that woman is really just mopping with her cat...)

Or are they like this little guy that clearly wants to kill it? Makes it tough to keep the house clean! (And any excuse to not vacuum will do in my book!)

Or are you lucky enough to have a completely indifferent dog like this:

As much as Rita sheds, I'd love to get a roomba, but it would have her running scared all over the house! How does the vacuuming go at your house?

Sadly I need to get at the vacuuming, cuz 2 of my sisters are coming over tomorrow! "Look out, Rita... here we come!"

Happy Mirth Watch Thursday!

  1. I hate vacular and run away. Pip use to try and bite it. Any house work and we are off. No point in sticking around and being made to help. Have a tremendous Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

    1. "Vacular" - that's funny. Sounds like the scary creature that it is!

  2. My Coco barks and barks at it, trying to get up the nerve to attack it. LOVE the cat vid! Thanks for sharing :)

    1. My sis just sent me that video yesterday - which was good, cuz I had no ideas for today's post!

  3. Gizmo isn't really afraid of it, but he prefers to stay in another room when it comes on...I guess it's dislike bordering on indifference

  4. Our first dog killed every vacuum we ever had. Our current dogs just walk away. I can't imagine having a Roomba with shedding dogs. The dog hair would kill a Roomba in quick order. As it is, I have to empty the canister at least twice in every room because of the hair, so I can't imagine how frequently I'd be emptying the Roomba. But my two probably shed a lot more than Miss Rita.

    1. I did wonder if a roomba would hold much. They look so small. But I thought, if I emptied each day... Anyway, it's not a concern, cuz Rita would hate having one so I'll never know!

  5. If we could hear the higher frequencies of the vacuum that dogs hear, we would probably hate them too. And never vacuum. Now there's an idea...

    1. You're probably right about the hearing thing. I wish they made ear plugs for dogs!

  7. Because I have a cleaning woman, who is a better pack leader than I (I hate to say), my pets are completely unafraid of the vac!! I can just vac whenever I want and nobody gives a darn LOL! P.S. I think we have the same vaccuum!

  9. Hi Y'all!

I've gotten indifferent to the IRobot, but when my Human gets the other vacuum out I throw myself in front of it and demand that she vacuum me with one of the attachments!

    Y'all come by now,

  10. I had posted a video on Dakota's blog showing how he goes INSANE about the vacuum. He tries to attack it and doesn't stop.
Cody on the other paw, just leaves the vicinity, he could care less.

  11. Gambler scratched and attacked the vacuum so hard he broke a toe nail off. That will teach him right???? Wrong!

  12. Gambler broke a toe nail going after the vacuum. Did it teach him a lesson....Nope

  13. Loved the videos! #3 is our beagle Kobi....you can run him over with the vacuum and he will NOT MOVE. Every other animal in the house, the other two dogs and the two cats, clear the room when it comes out. Actually my hubby does most of the vacuuming, and I clear the room too. That thing is annoyingly loud.

    1. Oh, lucky! I wish my hubs would vacuum. I'm hoping when he's retired he'll discover a love of vacuuming. (One can dream, right?)

  14. Honey's ok with vacuuming but not thrilled with it. Luckily, I don't do it very often. Sometimes I just pick up hands full of dog fur on the hardwood floors. :)

    1. I do the same thing! Just grab a passing tumbleweed of dog hair and move on. :)

  15. I'm the indifferent one. Mom vacuums right up to me and then has to ask me to move, the other pets all run off scared to death :)

  16. I have yet to meet a dog that likes the vacuum. Audi the pug will try to attack it, while Beamer, the giant wuss hides.

  17. Well, Shiner is way better with the vacuum than she used to be. Like Abby, she's not afraid to attack it lol... which is pretty annoying. Now she just doesn't really care that much anymore.

  18. Love these videos. Jeffie pretty much goes insane and always has. He used to attack the vac, but I've managed to stop that. Rudy follows me around as I vac, sort of like at heal. Rosie doesn't understand any of it. I look in her little face and she seems to wonder why Rudy is following me and why Jeffie is practically foaming at the mouth. Suffice to say it's pretty exciting when I vac ;-) Years ago my black lab mix, Spanky, was fine with me using the attachments on him.

  19. That golden cracked me up!

Four out of five animals in my house believe the vacuum is an evil being from another dimension, and the dog that does like vacuums would probably think the roomba was a fun toy. :-)

  20. Would love to have some videos like these! Barkly used to go maniacal over the vacuum, but I was told to put his leash on him and drag him around with me while I was vacuuming. For some weird reason, showing him I was in control of him AND the vacuum made him quit within 5 minutes. He's not done it since. When we got Vlad, I did the same thing and he's never had an issue with the vac. I've never wanted one of the automatic ones b/c I'm thinking I'd have to stop it and empty it too often.

  21. I avoided the vacuum-fear situation by turning the vacuum on (and leaving it on) while the pups were still wee little things. They don't think anything of vacuums now.
