Wordless Wednesday: Rita's New Leash & Avoiding a Tired Pun

Rita got a new leash... (not on life. Man, while I was trying to write a title for this post "a new leash on life" is ALL my feeble brain could come up with). She just got a new leash. Period.

It's a little bit girly, and a little bit bad-ass (cuz it has pink skull & crossbones on it), just like our girl. Here she is sporting it, nice and pooped after a walk.
The first day we set out to use it, I realized it matched my outfit perfectly:
I don't generally dress to match my dog. (That's just a wee bit toooooo Crazy Dog Lady for me.) Sometimes I dress to match my breakfast fruit, but generally not the dog. How about you? Do you ever dress to match your dog? (Other than on Halloween?)

In Other News....
I wanted to share a few quick things!

First, I won a book! Thanks to Jan at Wag 'N Woof pets and to the author, Amy Peterson, for sending me Something Furry Underfoot! I've only read a couple of chapters so far, but it's very cute!

Second, I helped fight pet cancer... And you can too! Blue Buffalo has a special Pet Cancer Awareness Blue's Buddies campaign going to raise money to fund pet cancer research at universities and clinics. If you create a card (it's free) during May, they'll donate $1 (up to $50,000!), so hurry! Go make a card!

Here's the card I made for Abby, our cancer warrior princess.
Click to bigify and hopefully it's readable
Third, I'm going to the Doggie Street Festival! What are the odds you'll be in San Diego on July 12?? If you're around, stop by the Doggie Street Festival for a fun day of adoptions AND a new Pet Book Fair! I'll be selling my books there. I'm sure I'll be sharing more about this as it gets closer.

FINALLY - next Wednesday I'll do the How To post on felting your own wooly pup. I was going to do it today, but time got away from me, and it's a lot of photos to organize, so come back next week!

Happy Slightly Wordy Wednesday!

Thanks to BlogPaws for hosting!

  1. You look so feminine fierce in your new leash. I would LOVE to go the San Diego Street Fair! How cool they have a dog book fair. Good luck!

  2. I don't deliberately dress to match but sometimes we do. I do sometimes think that when I wear all black, Mr. N and I "clash."

  3. I really love those colors and that you matched your momma.

Well go ahead and call my momma crazy dog lady. Sometimes when I've modeled on the run way my momma will wear something (like a scarf) to match my outfit. When I modeled at the International Kennel Club show this year in February, I wore a houndstooth leash and collar/harness vest set. My momma wore a houndstooth cashmere scarf over her black outfit to give it some pop and match me.... it was a hit! WOOF WOOF!

  4. That is great re the book and fight cancer. Have fun at the doggie street festival. No we seldom match as peeps wears trash clothes to walk me as I am a bit naught of the jumping up front with muddy paws. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  5. I agree, dressing to match your dog is a bit over the top, plus I am not a leash/collar collector so mine are quite boring, dirty, faded, etc.

I'm really looking forward to your felting demo!

  6. Well as a chap cat I quite like pink, but I am quite secure, especially if there is a skull and crossbones involved!

Congrats on winning the book :)

  7. Never dress to match my pack... since they're mostly naked :-) Very cool leash. Jeffie is swooning over that photo of Rita!

  8. Love the leash! Sometimes I wish I had a female dog just so I could buy hot pink doggie stuff. I'm sure I still could, but I don't know how Kyuss would feel being walked down the street in it.
As for dressing like him, nah. He's way ahead of me when it comes to coolness and there is now way I could match up. LOL

  9. What are the odds? I will, indeed, be in San Diego on July 12 so will have to come by the booth! Love the leash.

  17. Odds are zero to none, dang it! Have fun! And I love Rita's new leash on life.

  18. I wear mostly neutral colors and earthtones, which by coincidence is the color of my dogs. Do I dress to match them? I wish you hadn't brought up the subject because I may be more crazy dog lady than I am willing to admit.

  19. Delilah's trademark collar is purple. I love bright colors on her as they compliment her so beautifully. The funny thing is without meaning to, almost every day I took her to class, I was wearing purple as well. Our trainer used to joke that I dressed to match her, but that wasn't the case at all.

BTW, I love the new leash. Sampson's collar has skulls and cross bones, but his is black.

  20. Cute leash! No, I don't wear anything other than a collar so mom and I never match but she makes sure that I do! Love Dolly

  23. Great leash, she is a badass! Congrats on the book and thanks for sharing the card, I will have to get on over there and make one for Norman. Have a great night.

  24. That leash is adorable! And, um, Bunny and I do tend to dress in the same color schemes from time to time, generally if we're going somewhere and I know there will be a lot of focus on us as a team.

The card looks really cute! I'll try to get over there and make one of my own!

  25. I'm glad you are enjoying the book!
I love that leash. I don't dress to match my dogs, but I did love it when I could coordinate their accessories. My favorite was Kobi with his red harness, red leash, and red booties. He looked so handsome!
That Doggie Street Festival sure sounds like a great event.

  26. Great leash! I like to dress my dogs to sort of compliment my look. I love vintage clothes so and wear vintage style every day so I try to find old looking collars and clothes for my dogs
