"Wait, what??? No dog???"
Don't worry! There are still pooch pics! Read on!
Isn't that a great cover?! |
The reason I'm sharing a non-doggy-book post is because my IRL friend Liz Fenton and new online friend Lisa Steinke are publishing their debut novel, Your Perfect Life, in June! (Hopefully someday I'll also get to meet Lisa in real life!)
Even though there are no dogs in the book, these lovely ladies are both Big Time Dog Lovers! Here's Liz with one of her pups, Lily:
Love this ear nibble shot! |
...And here's Lisa with her new puppy - also named Lily! (I told her she didn't have to go out and get a dog just to make my blog readers happy, but she's a pleaser! I can relate to that!)
Aren't they both gorgeous?! |
Dynamic Duo Review-O
by Dee DeTarsio and Jackie Bouchard
Jackie: I’m not sure about the title of this blog post.
Dee: Really? The title? We can’t agree about the title?
Jackie: It’s fine.
Jackie: I’m not sure about the title of this blog post.
Dee: Really? The title? We can’t agree about the title?
Jackie: It’s fine.
Dee: Fine? Two syllables fi-ne? What, are we dating now?
Jackie: Let’s just get to the book.
Dee: Okay, but first let's give a little background about how they've been friends for 25 years and wrote the book together.
Jackie: Wow. It'd be so hard to write a whole book with someone else.
Dee: I’m sitting right here.
Dee & Me with the soon-to-be best-seller! |
Jackie:
No, not you in particular.
Dee: *Looking around* Who
are you talking about? Jennifer Weiner? Sarah Pekkanen?
Jackie:
I’m just saying that you take two smart women...
Dee: Accomplished, impressive, funny...
Dee: Accomplished, impressive, funny...
Jackie:
Sophisticated, polished...
Dee: Wait a minute. Who are you talking about?
Jackie: Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke. Who are you talking about?
Dee: Never mind.
Jackie: Can we least agree on how much we loved their book, Your Perfect Life?
Dee: Loved it! And how great is it that we have been able to get to know Liz?
Jackie: I think it’s her turn to buy coffee next.
Dee: I do believe your spreadsheet is showing, thank you very much, but you're correct.
Jackie: Sorry. Once an accountant, always an accountant.
Liz & Lisa in San Diego! |
Dee: Anyway, I could hear
Liz’s voice all the way throughout the book—smart, sarcastic and sweet—and I
feel like I know Lisa. How can anyone resist the premise of switching bodies
with your best friend? Especially with Facebook, where we all think everyone
else is living the life.
Jackie: I really liked their characters, too, and the dialogue. It was very real, and very fun.
Dee: And don’t you love it when books and authors are in harmony, and that relationships (whether virtual or in person) with the author strengthen the story, and vice versa? Like you are so Jane in Rescue Me, Maybe.
Jackie: And just like I could totally hear every wisecrack that came out of Elle’s mouth in All My Restless Life to Live being said in your voice!
Dee: I was totally picturing Liz as Casey while I read. Weren’t you?
Jackie: Um, I thought Liz was Rachel. Lisa’s Casey. No?
Dee: You are killing me.
Jackie: Anyway, even women who don’t know Liz and Lisa will like this book, and will feel like they know them after they read it, right?
Dee: Absolutely.
Jackie: Stay tuned for a co-authored bestseller from Dee and Jackie, coming soon...The 12th of Never.
Dee: Very funny.
Jackie: At least we managed a blog post together! And it only took us, what, a month?!
Dee: It's a start!
Your Perfect Life is coming June 10 (available for pre-order NOW!) I'm sure it will be a big hit - and you can say you heard it here first!

Thanks to Snoopy’s Dog Blog,
Alfie’s
Blog, and My Brown Newfies for hosting Monday
Mischief!
Looks like an interesting (and funny) read! Kind of like Freaky Friday, which I loved when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteYes! It's like Freaky Friday (which I also loved) for us grown up gals!
DeleteYes, what Jen said! And I love Gal! It's always good to be photobombed by a cat.
ReplyDeleteHee! Gotta love a photobombing cat!
DeleteSounds like a fun read and backalleysoapbox has us now thinking of Freaky Friday which we loved too. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
I loved Freaky Friday. Who hasn't dreamed of switching places with someone? (Usually I dream of switching with the dog...)
DeleteHave to give it a try after a review like that!
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely give it a try!
DeleteSounds like a fun read.
ReplyDeleteIt IS fun! Even if there's no dog.... :)
DeleteIt sounds like a fun book! Who could resist, since the authors are dog lovers and jump on trampolines!
ReplyDeleteGotta love a trampoline-jumping, dog-loving gal, right?
DeleteI really need to put more dogs in my blog!! I love your post Jackie, and I had so much fun with this! Hugs!!!
ReplyDeleteYes! More dogs! It was definitely fun doing this with you, Dee! And I love that pic of you and the furry kids.
DeleteSounds like a great book, I'll keep an eye out for it.
ReplyDeleteIt's coming soon!
DeleteA most clever collaborative review to a co-written book. I couldn't even write a usable grocery list with another person.
ReplyDeleteHa! Okay... I confess - Dee did all the heavy lifting! :)
DeleteGreat review. I laughed throughout. It must be wonderful to have a lifelong friend that is strong enough to last through writing a book! haha!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I can barely get my friends rounded up for dinner, let alone write a whole book together!? Amazing.
DeleteSounds great! And just in time for a June trip. I'd like to hear a little bit more about the plot ...
ReplyDeleteIf you click the link at the top of the post on the book title, there's lots more info there about the book.
DeleteWe appreciate her sacrifice in getting a puppy!
ReplyDeleteI know, right!? Really nice of her! :)
DeleteWill definitely be putting this on my kindle wish list. Looks a good read. Be sure to keep me busy this summer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great review with some great doggie pictures.
ReplyDeleteVery clever :-) Will definitely check out the book!
ReplyDeleteGosh! And they are still friends!! Terrific review. I reckon the book will become a film?!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great read. Looking forward to it!
ReplyDelete--Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats
Best of luck to them on their book!
