Wordless Wednesday: Are You Going to Our County Fair...

Okay, sing along with me, to the tune of Simon & Garfunkle's Scarborough Fair

Are you going to our County Fair? Bunnies, dogs, a hydrant of wool....

Yep, my sis and I are not only going to the fair, but we entered lovingly hand-crafted bunnies and dogs for the Home & Hobby competitive exhibits. Specifically, we entered "sets" in the needle-felting division. (Oh, no wait - technically it's the needle-felting class, which is within the overarching "Felting" division, which is within the "Needle & Textile Arts" category.) Whatever it is - we want to win.

I've been wanting to enter something for years, and this year we are finally doing it. They wouldn't let us enter together - except for quilts, only one person's name can be on an entry - so we decided to each enter an item (even though we made both of them together). My sis entered our tableau of bunnies: (click on any pics if you want to see them bigger)

Rita photobombs the bunnies (with intentions of eating them...)

And I, of course, entered the dog park scene:
We've got: a Schnauzie, beagle Bailey, a terrier-esque little guy, & a poodle-mix
Here we are while it was all still work-in-process:
A hot-glue gun is a crafter's best friend
Rita helped:
"What are you doing, Auntie?"
We had a little fun with the dog-park scene before finalizing it...

The San Diego County Fair starts June 8, and I think they said we can find out online the first day or 2 how we did. We WANT the blue ribbon. We will be satisfied with nothing less! (I don't remember exactly what I saw entered last year, but I remember thinking, "We could do better.") :)

The fair has a "Game on!" theme this year and you can win extra prize money for having the best entry that depicts the theme. Whaddya think?? We've got a ball and a beagle in a play-bow. How much more "game on" can you get??
Game on, pooches!
I'll let you know how we do. If we don't win, we shall be quite put out! (to quote Prince Humperdink, in The Princess Bride).

Sorry I was once again so WORDY on Wordless Wednesday!

And thank you for using a play bow pose. I complain all the time that artists choose all kinds of interesting poses for cats for dogs just sit or stand. Good for you.

Can't wait to see that blue ribbon.
