Monday Mischief: I Met My New Cousin!

Rita here! I met my new cousin, Reggie, this weekend. Momma said I did really good! She took about a thousand pictures, so I will let the pics tell the story:

We met through some bars, but he looked like he wanted to kiss me, and I looked like I wasn't going to eat him, so they let us meet for reals.

He tried to give me a hug right away, but like my Momma, I am not really into hugs right away.
"I love you cousin Rita!"
The hug thing made me a little wary... but he was so darn cute....
...that I couldn't resist trying to get closer. So I tried to make myself smaller.
I even tried to get really small, but then he got shy and started hiding in everyone's laps.
"I can play with you fine from here, cousin Rita."
"Come on out on the grass, Reggie! I won't bite you. Much...."

Finally he came out for a romp on the grass.

I got reeeeal small so he wouldn't be afraid...
...and he got so brave that he pounced on me.

Later, we sat and had a good chat.
"I'll show you the ropes, little guy."
I told him some of my secrets:
"Dude, your pawrents keep the food stashed in the storage room!"
And he told me some of his. (His were pretty boring. He hasn't seen a lotta stuff yet.)
"I'm just trying to figure all this stuff out!" "Dude, volume control."
I gotta admit... he's pretty darn cute...
...even when he tries to pull my tags off.
"Hey, I need those!"
I let him look at how nice Momma keeps my teeth (I told him about the coconut oil thing)...

...but he was more interested in other stuff.
"Well, what do we have here, cousin Rita??"
But I put a stop to that.
"Dude, not cool."
Oh well, a friend's gotta sniff what a friend's gotta sniff! I think we are going to be good friends.
Reggie & Rita - hopefully life-long friends!
I hope you got to get up to some good mischief this weekend too!

Happy Monday Mischief!

    1. Yep, we are only about 20 min from them. We usually trade dog sitting duties, so we need these 2 to get along!

    1. It's so fun. Well.... it's mostly fun. Rita has other cousins and doggie family, but she's a little afraid of some of them because they are bigger than her.

  6. Hey, Rita,
Reggie here. Thanks -- I had a blast! Mom and Pop kept talking that night about their BONUS from your visit. Something like "a tired pup is a good pup."

    1. It was very fun! Reggie was a hoot. He mostly hid in all our laps, then he'd dash out and pounce at Rita, then run back to a safe lap. So funny.

  9. Oh Rita, you are such a good doggie. You really were very gentles with the little pup. I am sure you will have him well trained in no time.

  10. Oh Bunny Rita sweetheart!
I'm so glad you like your new cousin! I wished I was there to play!
Thank you for making him stop looking at your privates!!! Male doggies are silly that way! And no, I would never do that!!! I'm a kisser, not a sniffer! That is just wrong!

    1. Very true - they were definitely reading each others' body language. And you can especially see it in Rita in the first few pics. She was a little unsure at first...

  21. Hi Rita and Jackie!
That little Reggie looks like a C-O-R-G-I...so sweet and it sounds like Rita will have a best buddy now to play with.
And, we have to take your tips on Coconut Oil too....mom has to go to the store soon to get some and try some soon!
Peace and barks and treats forever,

    1. Yep, he's a Cardigan. The coconut oil is great. We've been using it for everything. The only bad part is that Rita loves it SO much that she licks and licks and licks while I try to brush, brush, brush!

  22. Ohmigosh, that is just the cutest thing ever! They seem to be BFFs already! How cute that they played together despite the size difference. Reggie is a feisty, little thing!

Will have to try the coconut oil. Hadn't heard of that before!

    1. As I just told Cat and Jozi, we are hooked on the coconut oil! Just cooked our dinner in it tonight, then used some to brush Rita's teeth, and I put some on my hands to soften them! It's all-purpose, man!

    2. We have to try that coconut oil...as soon as I can get out, I am going to grab some and give it a try with Jozi!
      Thanks Jackie!
