Of course, I immediately thought of my "nephew", Leo the mastiff and shared the link with my sister-in-law. (She was very happy to learn the tip that Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are great for cleaning dried drool off walls.)
I don't actually have a picture of Leo drooling (sorry, I know you'd love to see that) but I do have one of him sleeping.
I think he's dreaming that he's a Lipizzaner Stallion.
Since reading about National Slobber Appreciation Day, I've been trying to catch a pic of Rita drooling, so we could participate in celebrating that auspicious day. Well, finally this week we got a little drool action out of our girl.
And when I say "a little," I really mean a little. Here's the pic blown up. See the drool?! She even attempted The Wrap Around!
See the droplets on her whiskers? They even go up on her cheek. |
What was it that caused this deluge? Well, since we went away for Thanksgiving, we decided to order a smoked turkey so that we'd have turkey for "leftovers." (BTW, the Greenberg smoked turkey makes awesome leftovers. To me, it's a hair too salty to just eat straight, but it makes fabulous turkey chili, turkey enchiladas, turkey fricassee, turkey gumbo, turkey etouffee... well, you get the idea.)
Rita thinks every package that arrives is for her. Especially this one!

"We gotta open this thing now, Momma! It says 'Open Immediately'!" |

"Momma, I would very much enjoy a taste of that turkey." |
So, the other night, while we were enjoying our smoked turkey tostadas, Rita couldn't control herself and became a slobber machine. Here she is again, drooling it up.
Okay, let's blow that one up too:
You see that, right? |
So, do you have a drooler? If so, you'll be all set to celebrate next year when National Slobber Appreciation Day rolls around again.

ReplyDeleteHey Rita, Jet here. Hi Miss Jackie.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
We love Leroy and Sherman. All in all, we're tidy K9s, although every now and then, if I'm outside a while, I may foam a little. Inside, Little Miss Sloppy Water Drinker, swings water from her droopy jowls a little. I'm not sure that qualifies as official slobber, though. :)
Rita, we think you're quite dainty... Mom could barely see anything, even in the bigified version! (bigified borrowed from my Best Feline Friend, BFF, Savannah, from Savannah's Paw Tracks. :)
