I got to have sneak-peeks at this book while it was being written. It's a wonderful, heart-warming book and I think you'll love it! It's full of sweet stories of devotion, protection, healing, compassion, and faith.
The book explores the reasons why we love animals so much and includes many great stories, including some you might recognize from the news or maybe you've seen a photo on Facebook. It's nice to remember these stories and also know more about them than just a quick soundbite or a photo.
There are so many sweet stories. Of course dogs and cats figure prominently, but there are also stories about horses, pigs, elephants, etc. etc. -- even snakes!
Interview with Peggy
I thought it would be fun to do a little interview with Peggy for this stop on the tour:
1. What inspired you to write this book?
I'd come across stories about a dog who helped a person who fell over a cliff, and then I'd hear about a person who helped a dog in it's time of need. Or a cat, or horse, or any animal. There's an amazing bond between humans and animals. We rescue animals, and animals rescue us. The love goes both ways. My own dogs remind me of this every day. I wanted to write about that kind of bond.
2. Can you talk about how you found some of the stories in the book?
In
my work for Guideposts magazine, I'd interviewed a woman about how dogs
are trained to sniff out cancer. That fascinated me. So I contacted her
and found out more. I found other stories through contacting people on
blogs and in the news to find out "the rest of the story." Still other
stories came through friends. One woman told me about how she had a wild
opossum living in her cat's little heated house on the porch, and I
said "That story's got to go in the book!"
3. I know from my advance look at the book that it has a neat structure. Can you tell folks about that?
