This time we made necklace pendants out of old Scrabble tiles. And of course mine were mostly of dogs!

I made a few non-doggy ones too, including some seasonal ones and a Pooh one, because who doesn't like Pooh??
We made them out of old greeting cards, stamps, stickers, wrapping paper, and magazines. The second one from the top left is my Abby-girl, made from a bookmark that had the old cover of Rescue Me, Maybe on it.
Most of these I'm either keeping for myself (cuz I'm piggy that way) or I've got plans to give them to certain folks... but there are 2 that don't have a home. If you'd like either the one with the 2 little brown pups or the one at the bottom with the b&w pup, let me know and I'd be happy to mail it to you. (If by some strange chance more than one of you wants either of those, I'll put your names in a hat and select one person.)
This was a fun, easy project and I definitely want to try to make some more!

PAWsome!!! the tiles looks big but scrabble tiles are typically 1x1 only. Love it! Golden Woofs
ReplyDeleteYeah, they're little, regular Scrabble tiles - they're all 3/4"X3/4".
DeleteThose are really cute. The brown pups look like chessies, or are they labs?
ReplyDeleteI thought they looked like chessies too. I'm not sure though if they might be labs. They're from a greeting card I had, so I'm not sure!
DeleteVery creative crafty! Such a cool idea!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, and pretty easy!
DeleteVery cute idea! And it looks a lot easier than those needle felted pups! Where did you get your tiles? I have a scrabble game but I wouldn't want to ruin that!
ReplyDeleteJackie's sister here. We used tiles from a scrabble game our sister got at a yard sale, but you can buy just the tiles. I got a bag of 100 tiles for like $8.50 from here: http://www.sunandmooncraftkits.com/supplies/scrabble-tiles.html
DeleteAdorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThose are way cute. Forced crafting. Hee hee.
ReplyDeleteYou print left here yesterday too. Thanks!
Yay! I can't wait to get my fuzzy chollo cacti! I think I might hang it right by my desk.
DeleteI agree with Taryn, much easier (at least to me) than those needle felted doggies :-) Love these and looks like you did a fantastic job with them!
ReplyDeleteYes, you're both right - this is MUCH easier, and also less painful (!), than needle felting doggies!
DeleteThat is a clever idea. I wouldn't want to lose a Scrabble piece since we play if a lot, but I I saw a one at a garage sale recently. Is playing Scrabble no longer cool?
ReplyDelete(Your forced crafting reminds me of my family forced camping. You WILL have fun.)
Yep, that's where we got these ones - my sis picked up an old game at a yard sale. But, heck yeah, Scrabble is still cool! We still play! I wouldn't use our "good" game for this! :)
DeleteI'd rather forced craft than forced camp. :)
How adorable and what a cute way to recycle the tiles.
ReplyDeleteFor sure, if you have a game that's missing some tiles, this is a good use of them!
DeleteVery cute! Mom doesn't do crafts any more, long story. Love Dolly
ReplyDeletePeeS: Sorry we haven't been by much lately!
DeleteThat sounds like an interesting story. And no worries - I know everybody gets busy!
DeleteI have something like that with Leo on it - it was a gift and I cherish it. Get great compliments about it too!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's precious. Yes, I'm going to love wearing my Abby and Bailey ones. (The beagle pendant is our angel Bailey.)
DeleteWhat a brilliant idea!! Very creative!
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty easy too! And fun!
DeleteWhat a great idea and so sweet of you to give a couple of them away. I have a little glass Christmas tree that needs some small ornaments and I think I might use this idea to make scrabble ornaments of each of our family members to hang on the tree. The size would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI also LOVE your idea of a sister's craft day and I'm going to see if my mom, sister and niece might want to to this occasionally. I think we would probably end up laughing more than crafting though, lol!
Laughing more than crafting is fine!
DeleteMaking little ornaments for a small tree is a cute idea too!
Oh cute! Mr. N's foster family gave me a scrabble pendant of a Yorkie last year for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's nice! I also have one of a coy fish that I really love and have been wearing a lot! (I'm wearing it right now!)
DeleteVery clever and cute!
ReplyDeletehugs
Mr Bailey, Hazel & Mabel
Thank you!
DeleteThose are cute! I missed the forced craft days with my sister!
ReplyDeleteForced crafting with a sister is always a fun time!
Deletewell you know me and crafts. I'd like either of them. I might gift the JR to Val, but keep the labs. LeeAnna at not afraid of color
ReplyDeleteWell, you're the only one who's asked, so if no one else does, you can have them both!
DeleteOmg Leeanna the jrt looks just like jackson!!!!! Seriously guys....I'd love and wear it!!! Smiles! Val from myplvl,blogspot.com
DeleteThat looks like so much fun! How cute!
ReplyDelete--Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats
It was fun! I want to do it again!
DeleteThat is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteMeowrrrr,
Shadow
We even tried to match the letter on the back with the pic, where possible - like Abby is on an A tile.
DeleteI want to make these for Christmas presents. You could also put magnets on the back and stick them on the fridge. I "pinned" the directions, but what adjustments did you make? I just love them. ♥
ReplyDeleteThey'd make good little Christmas presents! We made 2 adjustments...
Delete1. We weren't as meticulous about cutting them out (she uses a utility knife I think) and sanding them down. We just cut them as close as possible with scissors. (And you can tell when you bigify them that ours don't always look as nice around the edges as hers do. But we didn't have a file and we thought that sounded like too much trouble. We were lazy, basically.) :)
2. I used a different glaze than she recommends. I used Rangerink.com's "Glossy Accents" - which I got (along with the bails) off Amazon. The kind she suggested didn't get the best reviews on Amazon, so I ordered the other kind.
Those are pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I need to start wearing my pumpkin one.
DeleteThose are so cute!! When I see stuff like that, I wish I was more crafty! :)
ReplyDeleteThis was a pretty easy project! Even if you're crafting-challenged you could probably do this one!
DeleteI love the ones that you made! What cool pendants!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThose are so adorable, I don't have the time to be crafty like that, (forced or not) but I do so love seeing what you come up with. :-)
ReplyDeleteThese were pretty quick to make, I must admit. Made them in a morning and then we all went out to lunch!
DeleteLove them. I think you can never have too much dog jewelry :)
ReplyDeleteOh, shoot - yeah, I already packaged them up today to send to LeeAnna. I might make more though! If I do I'll let you know. I have more pics of those same pups - I cut them out from a postcard so might be able to get another pendant from the same photo.
ReplyDeleteOh I love those!
ReplyDeleteMonty and Harlow
Those are great! Forced crafting sounds rather serious though it sure looks like you had fun.
ReplyDeleteThese are really cool! Mine would be mostly dog related as well! :-)
ReplyDeletewhat a great clever crafty project, I love them!
