Less Wordy Wed.: Can You Guess What This Is?

Today we have a guessing game. Can you guess what this is?

I'll scroll down a bit so you don't see the answer right away and give you a chance to ponder it. (I don't know why I watermarked that pic. Who's going to want that???)

Anyway.... Are you pondering??

Okay... here goes....

That, my friends, is a duck's ankle.

You might remember I got Rita a big bag of duck feet and she was totally into them.
"Yum! Duck's foot!"
(And you might also remember how my hubs would torture me with them... Eeesh.)

Well, for some reason, Rita has gone off the ankles.

I give her a duck foot, and next thing I know, I'm walking across the carpet, when "Ouch! What the hell was that??!"

I keep finding duck ankles when she's done.

She's so odd.

Does your dog do odd things too? Or are we the only ones with a weird dog??

Thanks to Blogpaws for hosting Wordless Wednesday!

  1. I didn't know it was a duck's ankle, but I did guess that it was some discarded piece of a chewy. Here's Leo's weird thing: when I give them bones, he runs around the house with it in his mouth, looking for a place to hide it from Mia, then lies down RIGHT BESIDE HER to eat it. They gnaw their bones side by side, with their backs touching usually. Then... they trade bones!

  2. Wow! I never would have guessed what that was. I have never given the girls any duck feet...perhaps I will have to check those out. This is kind of funny, but that very thing that Kari talks about in the comment above mine...is the EXACT same thing that my girls do! Too funny! They keep us hopping, don't they? Happy WW! 3. Lol... well i had guessed part of a pig's hoof. That is funny though! Reminds of one of our old cats. The one who would catch and eat whole rabbits, but refused to eat only their kidneys (idk if that's what they were.) Now those were NOT fun to step on... -.-

  4. No way would she allow me those as lord knows where I'd hide them? Probably the bed for a snack later LOL. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  5. Ouch! I don't know what's worse, stepping on a duck ankle or a lego?! BOL!!!

  6. I think all dogs do weird stuff one time or another. Odd that the ankle would be so different than the foot.

  7. That is odd. Not to be an alarmist, but the ankle is probably a tougher bite than the toes/webbing, so check Rita's molars to be sure she doesn't have a sore tooth. Corgis are renowned for having jaws stronger than their teeth, and cracking a molar on a bone. Poor Wilson has done it twice and had two molars pulled as a result.

    1. I'll take a look, but I'm pretty sure it's just that she's odd. I'll have to post about some of the other weird things she does re: food. (And the vet just looked at her teeth and said they looked fine, but I'll poke around in there!)

  9. You are SO the only one with a weird dog. ;) I thought it was part of a chicken wing. Not that I approve of Jimmy bits being consumed in your house.

  10. Reggie's an ankle man, as Rita can confirm, since he loves to chew on hers. So he doesn't get this little oquirk of Rita's. At least between the two of them they could wipe out the entire treat.

  12. Stepping on chews is not a pleasant experience! At least most of Mr. N's toys are soft.

  13. I bet they would be painful to step on!

  14. Who knew duck feet would provide so much entertainment and be fodder for more than one blog post? :)
My dogs definitely do odd things...especially Luke, though I just can't think of an example right now! I'll be back if I do. :)

  17. We've never tried duck parts mainly becasue they likely wouldn't last more than two minutes with the aggressive chewers we have. We primarily have cow hooves. No more antlers after Bill's broken teeth.

  18. LOL that is funny. I guess the ankles are not as tasty and the feet!
