Monday Mischief: Wrongfully Convicted

Rita here at the keyboard...

I want to tell you about a recent miscarriage of justice!

My cousin, Reggie, and I were wrongfully convicted. We were thrown behind bars without the benefit of a trial before a jury of our peers!

Here we are in the hoosegow. (You can kinda tell by this shot that Reg gets wrongfully convicted a lot, so he just takes it in stride. But me... what did I do?? I never go behind bars at MY house!)
But... but... but... what did we I do wrong??
Sorry about the quality of these shots, but that's what happens when you have to smuggle photographic equipment into the slammer.

We tried to put on brave faces (actually we were trying to get some chicken out of our jailers), but it was hell being locked away in the stockade without the benefit of a proper trial.
Can we have some chicken? We're starvin' in here!
Wanna hear what our so-called "crime" was?? We wanted to play under the dinner table while everyone was eating.

Pffffftttt! What kinda crime is that?! I mean, Siriusly!

Note that no photographic evidence of said crime actually exists. The closest our captors came to capturing the events of that night on film is the picture below of us playing NEXT to the table. This is circumstantial at best! (And, at worst, it's a terrible picture!)
THIS IS NOT A CRIME!
Luckily our jailors realized that we had a serious case for wrongful imprisonment - and could easily have won a huge settlement in compensatory treat damages - so they let us go.

I'm still considering bringing charges, but... what's that Momma? A piece of Jones Natural Chews Lamb Lung Puff?? Um... yeah. What's that? I need to sign something first? Okay! Um, just show me where to sign!!

Case **munch munch munch** closed!

Don't forget...
My giveaway for 2 adorable kids' books is still open! If you know kids who love dogs, be sure to go leave a comment to enter! You have until midnight Wednesday to enter, and I'll announce the winner on Friday.

Rita gives the books 3 dewclaws up! (Cuz she has 3!)
Thanks to Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Alfie’s Blog, and My Brown Newfies for hosting Monday Mischief!

  1. Well, Rita, while I don't know Reggie personally, I do know that cardis are notorious for encouraging those who might not normally commit crimes to turn to the dark side... but it was fun while it lasted, wasn't it? Yeah. Reggie was right and the lamb lung was yummy! :)

  2. Oh well at least you got sprung and some munchies as compensation. I got in trouble too but luckily I was not imprisoned. We have missed you.
    Have a marvellous Monday.
    Best wishes Molly

  3. Well, I'm just glad they freed you after all! What an awful excuse for an imprisonment, humans can be very unfair sometimes. It's quite right you got those treats, I hope the people felt guilty!

  7. Dogs seem to quickly grasp the concept of food and gravity and positioning themselves where the two can operate. This is the natural right of all dogs. The humans were smart to settle the case out of court.

    1. yes! You're right. Dogs probably knew all about gravity before Sir Isaac.

  8. I agree. There was not enough conclusive evidence. I would just lay low for awhile to be sure ;)

  9. Your humans aren't very bright, Rita. The whole point of HAVING a dog is so it can clean up under the table while the humans are eating. DUH. Sounds like someone needs to be educated. Maybe you can get more Lamb Lung Puffs out of mama if you make her feel guilty about it. ;)

  10. Dearest, Rita, my partner in "crime"
I see here that you blame moi! I gotta tell ya -- I know we was framed! I gotta say that having you wit' me was much nicer than my usual solitary confinement.
    In solidarity, your cuz, Reggie

    1. I feel bad about your usual solitary confinement, bud. But hey... don't do the crime if you can't do the time. I'm just sayin....

You know I love you - in the slammer or out.

    1. I know! There was none of that "innocent before proven guilty" stuff with us! It was the other way around!

  15. This all sounds pretty circumstantial to me! Anyway, it ended in Lamb Puffs , and they are definitely worth a few hours in the slammer!

    1. That's true. I'd be locked up every single day if it meant LLPs every day!

  16. You are so lucky that Rita does not have an attorney on retainer and can easily be paid off with treats! That is hilarious!!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I can't EASILY be paid off. I wouldn't accept just ANY treat. I've been known to spit out a salmon puff with great disdain! But... we're talking LLPs here. LLPs people! I only have so much willpower!
