When I finished making the new banner, I realized I should probably update my About Us page, since I didn't mention Bailey on it before. (What a terrible dog-mom I am!)
While I was adding Bailey to the About Us page, I got the idea to post a This Day in History photo today.
Bailey & her fave person, Daddy. Aug. 14, 2009 |
As I went through all my folders of digital photos (I keep them in folders by year, with the photos names by date... I'm really anal about keeping them in chrono order), these shots of B kissing her Daddy were the only Aug 14 shots I had. (In my pre-blogging life, I didn't take a lotta pics. You?)
This image was a very common site at our house! B loved to kiss Daddy. Abby was a big kisser too, which is where the name of the blog comes from. (Oh the irony that we now have to beg for kisses from Rita. Seriously. Begging. It ain't pretty.)
Here's what I wrote about B in a little tribute that I was able to have posted on The Bark magazine's site:
She would sit in his lap every morning, put her arms around his neck and kiss him before work. We wondered if she thought she had to re-mark him everyday (“Back off other dogs; he’s mine!”), before he went out into the world. After all, he shaved off all her kisses from the previous day. One day, I tried to count her kisses. Lick. Lick. Lick. I gave up after one thousand. We conservatively estimate that she gave him several million kisses over the course of her too-short lifetime.
That's a lotta pooch smooches!
Thanks for letting me be a little wordy about our first dog as a couple on Not-So-Much-Wordless Wednesday!
Great photo and great idea. I don't have very many photos either - they tend to go in spurts...Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh, such a sweet story :-) Jeffie and Rosie are free with their kisses; Rudy not so much :-( Love your new blog banner! Very cool.
ReplyDeleteSweet. Sending you Lots of Golden Smooches. Our too is not soo Wordless. Happy WW BlogPaws. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteDoggie kisses (or nose nibbles) are the best! I LOVE the new header! Bravo!!!

What a lovely story Jackie! And a great picture.

Miss that Bailey girl. She had quite the personality!
ReplyDeleteLove the new banner and tag line. It's strange how some dogs can't give enough pooch smooches and others seem to be germaphobic. Based on pictures taken, I am the worst doggie mom in the world but photo skills elude me.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the banner. Congrats on your new addition!
ReplyDeleteSM 'n Co.
Your new banner is beautiful. Bailey is a sweetheart. My older boy is a major kisser and kisses on command. The younger one is getting in on the act now.
ReplyDeleteLove the new banner and how your blog got its name!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet. We give kisses but only when we want to and never on demand or for treats or any form of bribery. Have a wonderful Wednesday Oz.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Sorry Jackie had Oz on my browser, quack, quack oops.

I love the photo. :) And yes, my children have been calling me the Mamarrazzi for a very long time. Granted, I've taken more photos since digital photography was introduced to us. But I'm not organized. How do you DO that?
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet story, there are so many blogs that I just realized I don't know where they got their name from. I am a kisser but much more a hugger. Your new banner looks great too!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look, but I loved the old look too. This header is super cute, cute enough that if I were a totally new reader, I'd be thrown a curve by the dry wit and deadpan humor you often deliver :).
ReplyDeleteIt's great to read the story of how Pooch Smooches got its name. Your story of Bailey reminds me very much of our LittleBear. He was also my hubs' first dog and they bonded intensely... also sharing millions of kisses. LittleBear would kiss the hubs for as long as he would let him. He was a food hound with us, but he was a shy boy... he would've never stolen a stranger's pizza no matter how badly he might've wanted to... that is some very cute, very funny mischief!
I LOVE the new header...I noticed it right off. Your sister is very talented. It was great to hear the story of how the blog got it's name. Our beagle Cricket is a big kisser, weekend mornings she tackles us on the bed and showers us with them...but beagle Kobi not so much. We have to beg for them from him and he'll pretty much only do it at supper time! Our golden Sheba will give them if asked.
ReplyDeleteI love the whole look of the site, great job!
How could I not notice that awesome new header? I absolutely love it! What a sweet story about B and naming your blog...my naming story is no where near as good
ReplyDeleteI love the new header and the story is precious.
ReplyDeletewhen are you headed my direction???
I think it's adorable, and i LOVE the new header :D
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of Bailey and her daddy--she looks like a real daddy's girl--and the new banner!
ReplyDeleteThe tribute you wrote is adorable. Love it! (And the new header!)
ReplyDeleteLove the new look!
ReplyDeleteGreat new look for the site, Jackie, and that old photo is a very nice way to kick it off. I can almost here the smooch sound!
ReplyDeleteLove the new banner! And what a cute story behind your blog name. Ya...I take way more pictures now too.
ReplyDeleteYour new banner is fantastic! The photo of Bailey and her dad is so sweet. Love the photos on your About Us page, too.
ReplyDeleteSusan and Wrigs
That is just the cutest picture ever!! I also love your new banner it's pawfect!
ReplyDeleteMy Mum is wondering if you can come and sort through her 20,000 photos (mainly of me) and catalogue them all please?! :)
Have a fun weekend,
Your pal Snoopy :)
I love it! Love your banner and how you got your name!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really beautiful story and I love the new header. Did I hear you say you designed it yourself?
