Wordless Wednesday: Operation - Tired Puppy

My sis was hosting her book club, so asked me to bring Rita over to help tire Reggie out. (Remember when I introduced Reggie - my new nephew?)
"I still have to grow into my ears and my paws."

In my new novel (which is coming soon!) the main character talks about a tired puppy being a good puppy, but a comatose puppy being the best puppy of all. Well, Rita did her best:
There was a lotta this:
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

And some of this...
Reg loves his tunnels. Rita wouldn't go in for nuthin'!

And a lotta racing around and around and around:
Rita LOVES to be chased! Especially if the other dog can't keep up!
"Look, Momma, I'm flyin'! And I have bat ears!"
"That's enough of that! I'm taking a shortcut!"

"HEEHEE! That was fun! And I'm not even tired, Rita!!"
"Okay, maybe I'm a little tired."
There were a lotta water breaks...
"Hurry up. I want a turn."
 ... And a treat break:
"Did someone say treats?"
Then there was some more of this:

"Rita, I'm memorizing your phone # so I can call you later!"
And in the end it seemed to work.
Operation Tired Puppy - a success!
But I'm guessing he'll get a second wind - just in time for the book club ladies to show up!

And Don't Forget...
It's time to check out the K9 Kamp awards. By the time you are reading this, they should be up over at Kol's Notes and Peggy's Pet Place. Go check 'em out. But here's a preview of an award! I nominated Taryn and her adorable corgis (I guess it's a corgi-themed blog today), Wilson & Jimmy, from A Tail of Two Cardis for the "Low Down" award - since they gave us the low down on a great low impact exercise (swimming)... while being low to the ground. Congrats Jimmy & Wilson!

Happy (Mostly) Wordless Wednesday!

    2. We don't want to infringe on Rita's blog territory. We do, however, feel strongly that Reggie could be a regular for the MONDAY MISCHIEF section.

      Thanks again,
Tired puppy owner and "puppy owner's husband" (as Jon refers to himself these days)

  13. Operation Tired Puppy was a raging success. Thank you, Miss Rita! Reggie was a good-as-gold, gentleman pup during book club. And a huge hit with my reading friends. Yep, we are two happy households knowing our pups love each other -- reciprocal dog-sitting is assured. Yay!!

  14. No matter how much humans play with their dogs, there is nothing quite like a little dog on dog, bitey face action to wear down even the most energetic pup.

Congratulations on your novel. Keep me informed.

    1. So true about the dog-on-dog play. At the shelter I volunteer at they started letting us do play groups with the dogs a few years back (instead of just playing with them by ourselves). It's so great and the dogs get WAY more tired.

I'll definitely be blabbing about the new novel a lot as it gets closer!

  15. Great playtime but we well remember the second wind thingy just when you thought you got the situation sussed. LOL sweet memories not. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

    1. That puppy energy is a lotta work! By the time we got Rita she was thankfully past all that madness! (Although... it would have been nice to have her from puppyhood. Poor kid. Who knows what her puppyhood was like!)

  16. This post made me chuckle, loved the captions! :)

Rita sure has a great playmate, I mean student! I love to play like that too, but unfortunately Cosmo doesn't, he's so dull!

    Have fun guys,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

Bummer that Cosmo won't play with you like that! You could come play with Rita some time!
