Personally, I like a margarita to lead me right into the weekend, but that will come later... As I post this, it's a little early to start drinking.
|Sampson & Delilah from Heart Like a Dog - gorg, right?*|
Since this is my first FUF post, I have a lot to catch up on, so we'll go back a little more than a week to wrap up:
Back to Normal(ish) - Update
I wrote this post while the hubs was still in the doctor's office getting his stem cell procedure done on his knee, so even though I knew it sounded like no fun, I didn't realize - and neither did he - how bad it was going to be.
Sadly, he opted out of taking the Valium they offered before the procedure. (Silly, silly boy. If you should ever find yourself in this situation - Just Don't Say No.) They'd said it wouldn't hurt too bad, so that's what he was expecting. Wrong! They had to use a little mallet to get the needle into his hip (really more like his lower back - you know those little hard spots on either side in your low back?). Then they would aspirate the bone marrow out. Neither of these processes was fun. And he had to sit through it 8 times! He practically passed out when he came out of there.
Also, I had joked about being his fat donor (they hunted around for a while apparently in search of some fat in his bum - no hunting would have been necessary in my case!) for the fat they shot into his knee. But, in all honesty, I think having your fat vacuumed out of you sounds horrifying and I'd rather just lose weight the old-fashioned way! (or not at all...)
Anyway, many commenters wished the hubs well. He's doing...okay. He can walk, but not super far, and (for those of you that know him) the not-working-out thing is kinda killing him. (He's very much like a dog in that respect!) But he's hanging in there. We won't really know if this worked for a long time - maybe as long as 6 months. I'll let you know.
Please send a good vibe, prayer, spell, whatever you're into his way - cuz he NEEDS to get back to working out. (Imagine if your dog couldn't run and play anymore?? Yeah. It would be like that.)
That Was a Dumb Idea - A Briefer Update
I just want to say thank you to everyone who commented because I know you had to exercise restraint in not saying, "Well, you dumba$$es should have known better!" It's okay if you said it in your heart. I understand.
Jan of Wag N Woofs Pets politely said that it "falls under the 'live and learn' category." Yes, next time we'll know! Of course, one complication here was that we weren't at home, and I didn't want to just show up at my sis's house, then dump the pup and leave. Next time we'll plan better. Or just not stand so close to the finish!
Flea (the "good" Flea) of The Jones Natural Chews blog said of this photo where Rita was busted attempting to eat my sis's cat's mouse toy:
"That mouse tail shot would have been better if it was a real mouse."
If it had been a real mouse, I would not have been snapping pics. I would have been standing on a chair like a cartoon housewife, screaming and grabbing at the hem of my skirt. (Or shorts, as the case was.)
A Bedtime Ritual - Fun Comments
After sharing the video of Rita, I asked if your pups have a bedtime ritual.
Sue from Talking Dogs blog said, "Rudy does the same thing. He also does the same thing - during the day - on OUR bed. One of us will walk in the room and there's this blob of sheet and comforter usually in the middle like a small mountain. LOL Then, of course, Rudy is lying NEXT to it. Go figure...?" At least Rita doesn't do this on our bed!
Taryn from A Tail of Two Cardis said, that their pup, Jimmy will "walk over to the bottom of the stairs and stop. He looks at you, he looks at the stairs, he looks at you. That's his way of indicating he wants to be carried up the steps! If you go up w/o him, he just stays at the bottom and waits. Eventually we give in and go back down and give him his ride up." Hysterical. I would love to see some video of this!
I love how well our pups train us!
Rise & Shine Kampers - Super Quick Update
I'll do a full-on update of this next week for the FitDog Friday hop, but for now - are any of you K9 Kamping along? Did you see the challenge? (Try to add an extra 20-30 minutes to your usual fitness routine 3-4 times/week.) It's... challenging, right? Go read about it and enter the giveaways either at Kol's Notes or Peggy's Pet Place.
Cats Cookies for People for Our Pup - A Question Answered & A Supreme DumbA$$
A couple of folks asked if we thought the head tremors were from low blood sugar. Yep, that's what we think - cuz that's what the folks we discovered via Dr. Google said.
Pam of Words with Wieners wrote, "Low blood sugar can definitely cause seizures in people, so it's possible that Rita could be having minor focal seizures related to low blood sugar. Giving her a quick snack in the morning may be all you need to prevent them. If the cookies are indeed working, you'll know your Googling served you well." Then, hysterically, she went on to say, "Cookies are certainly a wonder cure for my ills (so I pretend). In fact, the idea of having cookies in my nightstand cracks me up, because they'd most certainly be used to cure any number of ailments I diagnose myself with during the night." The only reason I am able to resist doing that is because they are not chocolate, and I'm a chocolate girl. If they were chocolate chip cookies, it would be another story. But then, of course, I couldn't give them to the dog!
My sis also commented (on Facebook) that once when she was buying the cookies for her hubs, a woman asked her if they were MADE OF CATS??! I wish my sis had answered, "No. And just so you know, baby food isn't made from babies either."'
As a side follow-up, while we are talking about Pam from Words with Wieners, I also want to thank her for the Super Sweet Blogging Award! It was very, well, sweet of her to nominate Pooch Smooches! (But I didn't do a whole post about it since we already won it previously.) Thanks, Pam!
Are You Going to Our County Fair? - Thanks!
Big thanks to all who agreed (which was everyone, right?) that we outta win the first place ribbon - whatever the heck color it is. (I thought blue, but Fisher & Staff of Ask Fisher said she thinks they are purple. Hopefully we SHALL SEE!) And hopefully there will be a future FUF post where I'll be showing off a photo of our 1st place ribbon.
How about you? Have you got things you need to follow up on for your blog? Then HOP ON!
