Wordless Wednesday: Just Bee(s)

Today, instead of our usual photo(s) for Wordless Wednesday, I've got a video. A dogless video, though. Sorry...(come back tomorrow for doggy video goodness).

You can't actually see the main subject, but hopefully you can hear them:

That's the tree in our front yard. When the hubs went out to get the paper on Saturday morning, he came back in and said, "Come look at this tree." I said, "It's lovely. I can see it through the window." "No, I mean, come listen to this tree." It was actually a wee bit scary, since I've seen swarms of bees flying over the house before - as pictured below:
This is actually taken from inside - I'm not out there w/ them. Thank heaven!
I had JUST come in the house and closed the back sliding glass door, which had previously been standing wide open. I almost had a houseful of unwanted visitors. I like bees, but nobody likes unannounced visitors. (Do they?) Luckily on Saturday, they happily stayed in the tree all day and never tried to come in.

(As usual - I intended to be wordless, but that didn't happen... Maybe next time.)

Happy slightly-less-wordy Wednesday!

  1. Woof! Woof! That's scary. My mom is highly allergic of bees. She got bit once in the eye and almost lost her sight. So be careful and safe. Happy WW. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  2. Hopefully they will just bee happy and not bother anyone.

  3. I am almost panicking over the bees! We have the aggressive Africanized hybrids here and so if that many bees are around - that's usually when it's time to call the beekeeper or fire department!

I hope they are nice bees. I had a swarm of the aggressive ones fly over my house once while I was outside. Needless to say, I called my dogs and we high-tailed it inside.

  4. Yikes! Bees! We get hornet nests around our house sometimes - it's awful when you accidentally run over one with the lawn mower! For safety sake (haha) my husband rarely mows the lawn!
    Bee Safe!

  5. I've been reading about bees disappearing from the earth. Maybe they are all there. Scary, but they do great things for farmers.

  6. That is really actually quite creepy. Kind of like when my yard is inexplicably filled with birds. It always gives me the chills. I am glad they remained in the tree and then went on their way!

  7. We usually have a lot of bees around here because well I live on the same property as a flower nursery. There have been tons in the bushes the past 2 days.

  10. Don't worry I'm never wordless!! :) I like unexpected visitors, but I wouldn't like bees!

I had one stuck on my coat one time and Mum saw it in the rear view mirror in the car (I was in the back) and it was near my eye, luckily she pulled over and managed to get it off - phew!

    I hope you're having a fun day,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  11. My dad raised bees when I was growing up. They're fascinating to watch. And the only time I was stung was when I stepped on them. I was always barefoot. Where is their nest?
