New Cozy Sheets - The Dog Approves

We recently got new cozy polar fleece sheets. To say Rita approves of them is an understatement.

If I could be wordy for a sec, there's kind of a funny story behind these sheets. (But not between them...)

One night, we were channel surfing for something to watch. I stopped on QVC, and said to the hubs, "I don't understand these shopping channels. Are you supposed to just watch, and hope that something you need goes by??"

(You can see where this is going, right?)

The hubs says he doesn't get it either, and we both watch for a moment to see what they're pitching, which is super cozy polar fleece sheets. Now, at the time, we had flannel sheets, but they were disappointing. ("Sage" online turned out to be "army green" - and they weren't very cozy.) I'm about to change the channel, when she starts listing the sizes and mentions they have a "split king" set.

I'd never heard of split king sheet sets. The hubs and I spent the last few years buying (and returning) MANY mattresses (LONG story), and had finally ended up getting two twins for our king size frame, so the not-cozy, army green flannel sheets are twin size sets, which isn't great because the two top sheets compete for space in the center of the bed.

Turns out you can get a set with two twin fitted sheets and a king top sheet! Who knew?? We needed that, and I didn't even know it existed.

And I must say, we love these sheets (and obviously so does Rita). They're so cozy. It's like you're being caressed by bunnies while you sleep!

As an added bonus, they came with an extra set of pillowcases in a contrasting color, which we also needed because we each like to have an extra pillow.

So, yes, I guess you are just supposed to watch the shopping channels and hope something you need comes along. If you're lucky (like we are), the thing you need will be the first thing you see, and then you may return to your regularly scheduled programming.

Rita is happy we ordered them. She finds them much more cozy than our cotton duvet cover!

Does your dog approve of your bedding selections?

  1. Sheets are very important. And these sound extra nice - especially if they are as soft as bunnies. Ruby doesn't much care about bedding as long as it is soft. However, Rosie, our cat, has very high standards!

    1. Of course the cat has high standards! Hope you are meeting them! :)

  2. We had no idea sheets came that way either. We have extra pillows and always have to buy a separate set of standard cases for the extra pillows. Mom likes more slippery sheets and not so warm. Bailie sleeps in bed and doesn't seem to care, but your bed sounds real cozy.

    1. I was really excited about the extra set of king sheets, since we both have an extra kin size pillow. And they look nice with the contrasting color.

  3. When we lived in VA we had 2 twin mattresses and I got so disgusted making the bed with all that extra top sheet. (Now we've got a regular king mattress.) The dogs love it when it's time to put flannel sheets on our bed. Rudy can hardly wait. Hops up, paws up the comforter and snuggles right in :-)

  4. Those shopping channels can be kind of dangerous if you're bored, but this worked out perfectly for you! We almost bought an expensive box of Alaskan king crab legs from a Deadliest Catch captain one night, lol! Hmm, maybe we should've bought them after all.

    1. If you find flannel too cozy, you'd probably hate these too. My sis is bummed cuz her hubby won't do cozy sheets.

  6. I don't have TV/Cable. I just watch DVDs so I guess I am really missing out! I had no idea such a thing existed either - cool! I tend to buy what is on sale, not what matches. You would probably scream in horror if you saw my bedding. As long as it is comfy, I don't much mind and neither does B. :)

    1. Comfy is the main thing! And, nope - I don't think you're missing anything not having the shopping channel! :0)

  7. Jaxson is true bed connoisseur. He prefers cold cotton to fleece and he doesn't like thick blankets. Harley prefers his bed.

  8. "Caressed by a bunny..." what great copy. Are you doing advertising copyrighting on the side?

We just buy the highest thread count we can afford and I keep the TV in a separate part of the house from the credit cards.

  11. Never know what you might find on QVC. I have never watched it. The sheets are awesome especially for cold nights. And good they are Rita approved!!

  12. I'm almost always too warm at night (even with the heat turned way down at night, darn menopause!) so I think those sheets would roast me, but they sound nice!

    1. I know some folks are not fans of toasty sheets. We keep our room pretty darn cold - don't have the heat on in there at all, ever, so the sheets are appreciated in the winter! :)

  13. I have a friend who is very addicted to those shopping channels, so I usually avoid them! Sounds like they have some good stuff though. Our flannel sheets shrink too much and fleece sounds really nice.
I don't think Cricket does approve of our bedding choices...she goes up to bed and scratches at the top covers to get them out of her way!

  14. OMG back in the 90s I was probably one of QVC's top customers lol. So much so that I had to stop ordering from them.
Wait...why do you need polar fleece sheets in California???
Dakota doesn't go into our bedroom. We have a small condo in an apt building. Cody's litter is in my bathroom and all of his cat toys are back there and I am too afraid Dakota will eat them and I don't want him waking up our neighbor at strange hours if he barks :)

    1. It gets pretty cold (to us anyway) here at night in the winter. And we like our room to be cold at night, so we don't have the heat on in there. We need those cozy sheets!

  18. Oooh, cozy sheets are important and sleeping while being caressed by bunnies sounds divine. My frustration is king top sheets that aren't long enough to stay tucked in at the foot of the bed!

  19. How funny. But glad you found comfy sheets. I'm terrified to watch those shopping channels. I don't trust myself, lol. P.S. Rita looks great, as always.

  20. LOL that is great. I am surprised that you need flannel or polar fleece sheets there. I see it gets cold at night. We have regular cotton here....lol.

  21. Wow that really is too funny! It's important that Rita give your sheets the a-okay. Toby has his own bed. I'm sure he'd prefer to share ours but he's not allowed.
