An Impromptu Take-Your-Dog-to-Work Day

Recently the Dog-Daddy had to go in to the office to pick up a report on the weekend, so we took Rita along with us for a little Take-Your-Dog-to-Work Day. Since she doesn't always like strange men, it's best to go on a day when no one else will be there, rather than on the real TYDtW Day!

She had a good time checking out where the heck Daddy goes for such long stretches of time every weekday!
She checked out his awards...
...and quickly found the snack drawer!

She had fun romping in the soccer field. (Yep, they have a soccer field, an amphitheater, a basket ball court and a volleyball court!)

Then we went for a walk about the complex, which has a really nice (if short) walking trail...
...complete with it's own man-made river and a waterfall.

There's even a big Koi pond. Rita was not too sure about the Koi!

There was a lot of mischief underway when we accidentally went to look at the pond in what is apparently the spot they get fed from!

All the fish and several turtles started heading our way!
They were really pretty. I felt guilty we didn't have any fish food handy! (I only had cheese for Rita...)

This isn't a great pic, but this one fish was so funny. The rest all swam around, but he just hung out right under us the whole time with his mouth hanging open. Too funny.
Bigify to try and see the goofy look on his face.
There was also some mischief from the art on the grounds. This piece could be rolled in a circle, and Rita didn't want anything to do with that!

    1. I know! Why does the Daddy grumble about going to such a fun-looking place??

  2. What a fun outing. I've often wished DH or I worked in a dog friendly company. Bailey would love to got to work and meet everyone. Katy on the other hand loves being at home with Mom and Bailey. I don't see her loving the work environment as much.

    1. I don't know that they'd be too dog friendly on an actual work day, but luckily we were able to sneak her in on a Sunday. :)

  3. What a great place to work, and take the dog for a visit. That fish is pretty funny. He wanted something for sure.

  5. That is a lovely place to work and to go for a dog exploration. Dog-Daddy has some intriguing awards, I'm betting they are not just participation trophies.

  7. That fish really does have a funny face......The fish and turtles definitely do understand that food comes from humans! I've seen that behavior a lot.

I had a friend who had a box turtle for a pet. She had had him many years. He would follow her around the condo, even up a step, in hopes of getting a snack. He was very cute. He even used a litter box!

    1. That is so cute about your friend's turtle! Sounds a lot like a dog I know - well, the following around for a snack and being cute part. Not the litter box part.

  10. Are there any job openings there? That looks like a great place to work! We don't have anything cool like Koi, but we do have rats that come up out of the drainage thingamabobs and romp in the shrubs. (Shudder)

    1. Oh shit. Koi! Not Coy. My hubs always proofreads for me (cuz I'm a terrible speller) and he didn't catch that! Must go fix....

LOL about no Koi, but rats instead. Nice. Yeah, we had mice at my last office. And, yes, I think they do have openings! They're growing like crazy!

  11. Koi and turtles! Awesome Rita. Did you put your snout in? Cole saw some the other week and wasn't tempted in the least til a frog jumped in! Going to work like a big girl! And handled it well, good on you girl! LeeAnna

    1. I thought for sure she might try to get in the water because it was very shallow and she loves to dunk her tummy when she'd hot, but she was a little freaked out by the fish and the noise from the waterfall.

  27. Hey! I impromptu-ly (ha ha I made that up) took Cooper to work today!! Wooooo! Most of my employees are at a conference this afternoon, outside the office, so with only four colleagues in the building, I thought it would be a good time to bring one of the dogs in. I used to bring my previous dogs to work almost every day. Sigh. How times have changed. It's fun to have Coop here with me today, but he keeps looking for mice!! (it's an old renovated farmhouse & barn, so yes, there are mice -- rodents, not the computer kind, although we have those, too!)

    1. Oh, dear! Mice! We had mice at my office in Philly - and it was a 4-story office building, not an farmhouse/barn! One day at work I heard a woman scream and was told a mouse ran up her leg. I spent the rest of the week working with my legs tucked up under me at my desk!
