Ages ago (probably before most of you found PoochSmooches), Rita won an Unbreakoball. She LOVES it. I don't know why she gets so nutty over this toy! It's like nothing else we own.
I don't bring it out often because it's hard plastic and a bit scratched up, so that plus hardwood floors is not a great combo. And she can't play with it in our yard because we live on a super steep slope, and if it rolls off the deck, it's a goner.
But I got it out the other day and she immediately went nuts.
These pics are all a blur cuz she runs by so fast with her prized possession.
Cracks me up how she hooks a tooth in to carry it around. |
Chasing it under the dining table |
I think when you watch this short video you'll understand why I don't get it out that often!
Did you hear the funny noises she makes?
Here's another wee vid of her trying to munch on the thing (not really possible) and making more snorty-pig noises:
Okay, so maybe she's not lazy. Maybe she's just uninspired by your average ball. Maybe her muse is a bright orange piece of hard plastic!
Do your pets go crazy over one toy more than others?
(P.S. You may have seen this post up briefly last week. I'd scheduled it to post while we were away on vacation, but when it went live the videos were no longer working. I had no way to fix the videos since we were away from home, so I had to pull it down. On a related note, hope to share some good vaca pics soon!)
Thanks to BlogPaws for hosting! (And thanks for letting me be a little wordy...)
There's just something about a dog playing with a ball that brightens up my day. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it! Blurry pics and all!
DeleteWow, she really loves that ball. If the floors survive her claws, I'm sure they'll survive the ball. We always tried to protect our wood floors, but now that our Bentley is gone, I look at some of the scratches and I'm glad they're there.
ReplyDeleteYeah, our floors are really scratched up from our tri-pawed. (And from Rita's violent reactions to our gardener!) It's impossible to keep them looking perfect, and like you said - it's a reminder of our Abby.
DeleteShe does look very happy with that ball. Ruby has a purple stuffie that she loves and brings out the crazy in her - shaking it around like crazy.
ReplyDeleteDoes she look happy?? Or does she look crazed? Watching the videos again, I'm not sure if she loves it or hates it!
DeleteAwwww, see!!!! Rita still has lots of playful puppy left in her! Harley is always down for walks and other activities, but takes all of his favorite toys to a new sleeping spot!
ReplyDeleteYeah, there are activities she loves - wrestling with Reggie, going for walks, tug, etc. It's just fetch that brings her "lazy" side out! :)
DeleteWe won one too and Bailie has her moments with it too, but ours is out in the yard.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a good yard for her to play with it in! It just doesn't work with out steep slope!
DeleteShe's almost playing like a cat! My guys each have an indoor toy and an outdoor toy they like. All of them are for playing fetch however. We have hardwood floors too, so for indoor fetch, we go in the basement that is carpeted and play down there.
ReplyDeleteI tell her often that she is part cat. :) Wish we had a basement, but no such thing here. She doesn't really like to play on the hardwood cuz it's so slippery. She always takes a toy to her bed or on the throw rugs. Guess we need bigger throw rugs!
DeleteLOL Love those piggy sounds :-) Rudy and Rosie are nuts for our Jolly ball on a rope. So much so that I got them a smaller indoor version. It does not live with the rest of the toys and only comes out once in awhile because they go so crazy and look like cartoon dogs skidding around on the hardwood floor. Jeffie sticks with soft stuffies and carries them around.
ReplyDeleteAw, Jeffie. He's so sweet! Funny that the Jolly ball brings it out in them. I guess it really is jolly!
DeleteBOL The videos really make this post! Rita loves that ball...just listen to her talking to it. I think that ball should come out more often, especially when she is feeling "lazy".
ReplyDeleteHappy WW
She really only makes those noises with this toy and one other. It's so funny. But is it the sound of love?? Or of hate??
DeleteAt the moment it is Underdog with his constant "there's no need to fear Underdog is here."
ReplyDeleteFunny. Rita doesn't have any talking toys. Not sure she'd like that!
DeleteDon'y you just love it when they get attached to something - and treat it special?
ReplyDeleteThey're so funny, aren't they?
DeleteLOL Rita really loves that thing! Kilo goes nuts over a sad mangled lamb toy, that's his fav.
ReplyDeleteAre we sure that's love? So cure when they have a fave toy.
DeleteThat looks like fun! Mom hides my toys a lot to prevent destruction in seconds so its always a lot of fun when they show up again!
ReplyDeleteI hide a lot of Rita's toys and rotate them out every once in a while. Always fun to have something "new" to play with!
DeleteRita, that ball looks like loads of fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely entertaining!
DeleteCute. Wonder if Rita would like Reggie's "Jolly Ball"? It's similar and is the favorite toy of Reggie's mama, Roxy. Have to get it back out and see if Reg still likes it -- it's for outside play only!
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to break it out next time she's there.
Deletewow, it makes me happy to see her so engaged. LeeAnna
ReplyDeleteEngaged? Or Enraged? Seriously... not sure if she loves it or hates it now that I watch the videos again. She might be trying to kill it!
DeleteShe loves it! I can't believe she didn't break that vase! My gang also won one but the big version. My gang doesn't get into it as much as Rita does.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I have often thought that vase would go down, but it's really heavy so it stays in place pretty well.
DeleteWhat an energetic puppy! Boomer has slowed way down this year...he is ten now. He will be 11 soon.

Yeah, she's not even 4 yet, so she can still be pretty energetic when she wants to be!
DeleteYup, she just needs the right toy to inspire her. She's too cute with that, with the noises she makes! We have one of those but no one has much interest in it. Luke played with it some at first, but when he realized he couldn't get any teeth marks in it, he lost interest. I've never tried it inside the house though, that might peak his interest. We have wood floors too so I figured it might be kind of noisy!
ReplyDeleteJan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
Aren't those noises funny? And yeah...the ball itself is also very noisy on the hardwood! Sounds like she's bowling!
DeleteNigel has a stuffed baby gorilla that he "enjoys" in very unnatural cross-species ways. I'd be all for the Unbreakoball in a heartbeat!
ReplyDeleteLOL. That's hysterical. I'd like to see some video of that. :)
DeleteLOL I love the noises!
ReplyDeleteThose videos are priceless!
ReplyDeleteMy first Boston had a toy a lot like that. It was red, square and plastic and I could fill it with treats. If he shook it or tossed it, the treats came flying out. He loved that thing, but my ears did not. So much clanking!
Jean from Welcome to the Menagerie
It takes a special toy for a special dog ;)
ReplyDeleteRita is so cute!! <3 Zoe loves her kong wobbler!
ReplyDeleteMr. N loves his polar bear.
ReplyDeleteOh lol...you haven't heard funny noises UNTIL you come to our house.

That type of ball is fantastic. Our boy Trail has one that he came with from his foster home where it was called his herding ball. He loves it he also hooks a tooth into it to carry! Luckily for us, we have acres of outside to play ball.
ReplyDeleteAngel Greta loved her little balls so much we had to only get them out once in a while, she would get so worked up. Mabel loves to chase any toy I will throw
