Monday Mischief: Rita's First Ice Cream Cone

Since July 31 was National Mutt Day, and August 1st was the day we used to celebrate angel Abby's birthday (she would have been 5 this year; read more about her here), I took Rita to McDonald's for her first ever ice cream cone.

As you can see from the intense stare, she thoroughly enjoyed it.
"OMD. Where has this been all my life?"
Here's a little video.

She didn't really understand how something so delicious can come packaged in something so tasteless. Tasteless is NOT a good end to an ice cream cone, in Rita's humble opinion.

So, yeah, that was the mischief. She tore the cone apart and spit it out all over the backseat. On the seat cover that I had JUST washed. Nice.

Thanks to Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Alfie’s Blog, and My Brown Newfies for hosting Monday Mischief!

  1. Ha ha Rita. We probably would have done the same with the cone. Who eats them anyway? Have a marvellous Monday.

  2. My comment disappeared, so if this is a repeat, sorry! LOL. The cone is just a carrier. We take our little pack to the DQ for birthdays where they share a small dish of softserve. Yep, they eat off the spoon. No cone mess and no brain freeze :-)

    1. Good idea to get a dish at DQ. But DQ is way far away from our house - McD's is close by. (I prefer DQ myself though!)

  3. Hmmmm, maybe this will have to become Reggie's special treat on his next b-day. Rita got it right -- those silly cones taste like cardboard. She is one lucky girl -- won the doggy lotto for sure.

    1. Oh - and yes of course I got something for myself! But I had a hot fudge sundae. Couldn't hold a cone for myself while feeding her hers so got a sundae so it could sit there while I fed her her cone. I hadn't had one in years! They don't make the best sundaes ever, but they're not bad and cheap and not too huge so you don't feel super decadent!

  7. HILARIOUS! This is why we wash car seats. Kids do the same thing - choose to puke everywhere right after a carpet has been steam cleaned.

  8. I love ice cream too! Mom's learned not to let me eat it in the car, it gets everywhere! Love Dolly Pees: Frozen yogurt is yummy too!

    1. Rita's so weird - she hates regular yogurt, so not sure if she'd like the frozen kind. Will have to experiment. And good point about not eating it in the car next time!

  9. My guys are no where near so picky. Tasteless cone is all part of it and it disappears in a nano-second!

  10. Hi Y'all!

My Human always gets a cup of ice cream instead of a cone. I like it better. My Human Papa likes a cone, but I agree with my Human...no cone!

  11. I kinda like the cone....as long as it stays crunchy. If it is soggy, then forget it. Usually, I just get a little cup of frozen yogurt. It is rare to get actual ice cream. *high paws* to Rita.

  20. So cute!! I think she would have preferred a sugar cone or a waffle cone! We've never taken our dogs for ice cream....clearly they are deprived and maybe we'll have to do that soon.

  25. That video is hilarious! She has to learn to push the ice cream down inside those cardboard flavored cones! She eats her ice cream like a dog after my own heart! ☺

    ReplyDelete
  26. The cone is sort of like the crust on bread, not meant to be consumed by man or beast, but parents always insisted we eat it. Loved the video

  27. Haha Rita, did you think the ice cream came in a cardboard package? :)

    Glad you enjoyed
