Join Us Wed. for the Last #GiveCancerThePaw Hop!

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the last Give Cancer the Paw blog hop. My co-host Peggy (of The Writer's Dog) and I have done what we've set out to do: raise awareness about canine cancer, share news of studies and treatments, and raise the "power of the paw" in fighting this evil disease.

Canine cancer touches so many of us, so for our last Give Cancer the Paw hop tomorrow, August 6th, we'd like to do something really special: We're inviting you to pay tribute to a special pet you've known and loved who has/had cancer. You can write a tribute post, share an old post about a beloved pet, or even just share a photo (and then also hop along with the BlogPaws Wordless Wednesday hop).

We'd love to have you join and make our last Give Cancer the Paw hop an amazing one to shine a candle on all the truly amazing special pets who are so brave. They hold a special place in our hearts.

Thank you and we hope to see you tomorrow. Let's honor all the pets!

The linky will go live on Peggy's blog at midnight (Eastern time) tonight, and 9 (Pacific time) on mine. It will be open for a few days if you need a little more time to get a post up!

  1. What a wonderful hop. We look forward to hear others stories. We have been blessed so far that none of our pets have faced cancer.

  3. I've lost two dogs to cancer. And the worst thing about having a golden retriever is my belief that it's practically inevitable I'll lose Honey to this awful disease too.

I hope that rising awareness helps people do what they can to decrease our dogs' chance of getting cancer. It's one of the biggest motivators for me to feed Honey a really healthy diet.

    1. That IS the worst. I was shocked when we did our first Morris Animal Foundation cancer walk and they gave the stats on how many more Goldens get cancer than other breeds. I hope that their research specific to Goldens will help change that in the future! Thanks for your comment as it reminded me that I wanted to link back to my post about things we do to hopefully avoid cancer in my upcoming post. Here's hoping Honey will beat the odds!!

    1. Gosh, I know SO many folks who've lost a dog to cancer (pretty much every member of my family and a lot of friends) so I'm happy to hear from you guys who haven't!

  5. Jackie, thank you and Peggy for doing this hop. I was sad when I read this is the last hop, thank you for getting the awareness out. I then cried when you said we could post up a tribute post for someone we love that had/has cancer. Bless you two!

    1. I hope you'll share some photos of your gorgeous Norman. He may be gone but he is most definitely not forgotten - like my Abby girl.

  6. Thanks for hosting this Hop - I do think it helped raise awareness and allowed us to share our stories. Abby certainly was an angel.

We love comments - even just a smiley face or a LOL will make my day. (Yes, my days are pretty easily made.)

PLEASE NOTE: Comment moderation is turned on for posts over 2 weeks old, so if you comment on an older post and don't see it show up right away, that's why.
