Did you know Peeps are turning 60 this year? You can read more about that here and see a slide show of how they're
Every year The Washington Post has a Peeps diorama contest - and every year we (we = me and some of my sillier siblings/in-laws) say we are going to enter. But we never remember until it's time for the contest winners to be announced. Someday! (Although it's a bit of a challenge as I believe you have to hand deliver your diorama - a logistical problem since we all live on the west coast. But we'll figure it out...)
Anyway, the winners from this year were announced on Tuesday. You can see the winner and other finalists here. I had planned to post some of the pics here, but there are just too many good ones, so you need to go and flip through the slide show. I especially like "Zero Peep Thirty." You can view more entries here. I especially like slide 11 - Pink Slime - and slides 12 and 21 also made me laugh out loud. And be sure to check out slide 32 for a doggy-themed diorama: Banana Joe the Affenpeepscher as Best in Peeps.
We are stock-piling Peeps (pretty sure they last forever) and some day we WILL enter!
Happy Peepster!
You and your family can one put together....mail it to me...and I can deliver it. I'm not that far from DC :-)
ReplyDeleteCool! I'll remember that!
DeleteThose diorama are so funny. LOL! Thanks for showing them to us. Have a terrific Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Doubt I will escape the bunny ears either.
Looking forward to seeing you in your ears, Molly!! (My mom almost named me Molly!)
DeleteWho knew such magic could be done with the lowly PEEP!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, "magic" is a good word for it. Some of the dioramas are so creative!
DeleteI always wondered what to do with them since I can't imagine actually eating one.
ReplyDeleteI know - way too gross to eat. Way more fun to play with!
DeleteWe love the Peeps show!!! I think they make perfect bunny ears for you. (Ma says to say they are delicious when they are stale - whatever that means).

Oz
I have some SUPER stale ones - not sure how delicious they would be. We've been stock piling them for years!
DeleteI've never seen the Peeps Show before before this post. Now I'm also wondering how I'd get my own entry to DC. I'd really like to see Zero Peep Thirty's " battery-powered, light-up fireball made of spray-painted cotton" in action as my Easter centerpiece.
ReplyDeleteI adore those sophisticated bunny ears, who's the model?
That would be an awesome center piece! And it would probably smell like toasted marshmallow!
DeleteThat is our angel, Abby. I made those ears for her a couple of years ago. Not a great photo, but we managed to win a prize in a peeps n' pups photo contest!
I think Rita would rather eat the Peeps than wear them on her head.
ReplyDeleteThat's actually Rita's angel big sister, Abby - but yes, she did want to eat the peeps!
DeleteThese dioramas are a hoot...Never saw anything like them before...Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteHappy to introduce you to the wonder that is the peeps dioramas!
Deletethat photo is hilarious! At first when we read this we thought that YOU were turning 60 ("peeps" as in parents....lol), then we realized you are WAAAAAAAAAAAY younger than that!
ReplyDeletexoxoxo
Thank you for realizing I'm not 60! lol!
DeleteThe Seurat one is amazing. But the Twinkie in the coffin is too hilarious!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the Seurat one is pretty brilliant. I like the Twinkie one too - love all the detail.
DeleteI love the Peeps bunny ears! Have you tried Peeps as s'mores? I'm not brave enough to try it.
ReplyDeleteI love s'mores, but nope - I'm not brave enough to try that either!
DeleteMaybe I'll try roasting a peep over our new fire pit this weekend... If our ancient stock-piled peeps will even burn...
Now I can officially say I've seen a Peep Show! :) Thanks for sharing this - that was hilarious! Ok, you HAVE to enter next year!!! Wow...s'mores with peeps...sounds a little risky...
ReplyDeleteLove the clever ears with Abby!
Happy to introduce you to the peep show. We'll try to remember and enter next year!
DeleteI'm thinking I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't like Peeps! Have fun, everybody!
ReplyDeleteHi Rita...loved your limerick over on Oz's blog today...Happy Easter!
