Remember ages ago when Rita and I donned our safety glasses in preparation for our kitchen remodel??
Well, it's THIS CLOSE to being done! (Just a few small things to tweak here and there.)
Here are some pics of the finished product.
The view from our dining area |
Here's a side-by-side - the folks who lived here before gave the kitchen a very Asian vibe, with the red granite and bamboo cupboards. It was pretty, but just not our style. We love our new beach-y update!
Since our old dishwasher trashed our dishes (we have VERY hard water here), I bought some basic white everyday dishes, and then found these really cute sea-theme bowls to go with at Target.
And the hubs and I found these coffee mugs that I LOVE at Pier 1.
I figured since we were getting new dishes, Rita should too.
She seems to like them.
She sees the GOOD DOG message if she eats it all. (She needs the motivation - she's a weird eater!)

Wow! There is nothing more exciting than new puppy dishes!!! Congrats guys! The kitchen looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Her new dishes are so much nicer than the basic stainless steel one she had before. She's happy about the upgrade. :)
DeleteBEAUTIFUL kitchen. It was pretty before but looks so light and airy now! Plus I love those mugs! I may have to hit our local Pier One to see if they have any. Those would be great for our condo!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, you need to head to Pier One. They have so much cute beachy stuff right now. And, yes, it was pretty before - but dark, and not our style. And all the appliances needed replacing anyway, so it was a good time to go for it!
DeleteThe dishes are perfect and I love the back splash. Our house is 117 years old and the kitchen really needs an update but that is such an expensive room to do. Nice job. Glad Rita got new bowls too (but of course she did!)
ReplyDeleteWow, that's an old house. Old houses are so cool - so much character, but yeah, the kitchen is a pricy room to update! Luckily for us it was all cosmetic and nothing structural. My friend just redid her kitchen and it's as a total gut-job - luckily we didn't have to do that!
DeleteLooks beautiful! Love the bowls!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice!!! we like the back splash!

Mr Bailey, Hazel & Mabel
Yeah, we like that too. We wanted something beachy looking.
DeleteAdorable puppy new dishes for an adorable pup!
ReplyDeleteThe new kitchen looks great! I bet you (and Rita) can't wait till it is completely done. I think those new dishes go perfect with it, and I can see why you love those mugs! Rita got some pretty bowls also. I think it's about time I get Mini some new bowls too.
ReplyDeleteYes, so true - we can't wait until it's ALL done. THey are going to try to schedule every little thing that's left for the same day so hopefully that works out!
DeleteIt's nice to have a new bowl! Rita hadn't had a new one in ages.
It looks amazing! We're hoping to buy a house within the next year or so, and will most likely go for a fixer upper. It's going to be a lot of work I'm sure but I'm so excited to be able to help design all the rooms and really put our stamp on them.
ReplyDeleteOur last house was a fixer upper - we literally changed everything from floor to curling, and we did a lot of the work ourselves or with the help of family. It was very rewarding! (Once it was all done!) :)
DeleteLooks great! Real fresh and clean!
ReplyDeleteHopefully it stays that way! I'm treating it like you do when you get a new car - don't want any scratches or dings! :)
DeleteHow exciting! Looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteLooks fabulous! We have horribly hard water here, too. It turned all the bathroom and kitchen finishes orange-rust color. Horrible! Which is why I had to reno my bathroom. My tub was a white tub with rust stains that would not come out (believe me, I tried EVERY suggestion from people, found online, etc etc etc. For YEARS. Nothing got rid of it). Well, I know how you feel. I am "this close" to having my bathroom back! :)
ReplyDeleteHard water is such a bummer. The people who lived here before us had installed a water softening system, but it wasted so much water, I couldn't stand it and we turned it off. (Plus it was even softening the water for the sprinklers, which was nutty.) Now the new dishwasher has a water softener, so that should work much better!
DeleteHooray for your project almost being done too!
Very nice
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYour kitchen looks beautiful - nicely done! I also like your dish with the encouraging message! :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't she weird that she needs encouragement to eat?? She's goofy.
Deletewhat a great remodel, looks very nice
ReplyDeleteThank you. It was long and painful but worth it in the end!
DeleteThe kitchen looks much better - more modern & brighter. I love the sea-themed mugs. Hard water is awful. Our water softener helps, but we still get hard water stains.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm hoping the new dishwasher, which has a softener built in, will be a big help! (I don't want to ruin my pretty new sea-themed mugs!) :)
DeleteLove the kitchen! If, when, we ever do the house thing I want a kitchen with lots of color and white cabinets.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of lots of color with white cabinets - I just hope I can keep them nice and pristine like they are now! (It's like having a new car! Don't want to scratch/ding it!)
DeleteVery nice! We're jealous cuz we can't wait for renos like that.
ReplyDeleteIt's SO nice to be done! Starting/living through a reno is no fun.
DeleteGORGEOUS kitchen, Jackie! Love the way it turned out (and obviously, so does Rita!). Funny thing: I think we used the exact same tile in our bathroom update (shower, as accent feature). Green/blue/luminescent pearl glass? Looks like it. Anyway, ENJOY the new kitchen, girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteThank you! That's funny, cuz I have another friend who said they also used the same in their kitchen! Although, I think ours is maybe just *slightly* different colors - it's not really a blue, more like a blue-green in ours.
DeleteI LOVE it!! The beachy theme and the white cabinets is exactly what I would choose (of course).
ReplyDeleteI need to get to Pier 1 and find those coffee mugs!
Haha, yes, of course it's exactly what you'd choose too. :)
DeleteYour kitchen is beautiful, Jackie! I just love the little shelves in the far side with the green tile and I love those dishes and mugs from Pier1. I may just have to order a few of those myself! I bet you're glad the remodeling is nearly finished.😊
ReplyDeleteI love those shelves too - it's nice to be able to display some of my favorites. And, yes, you should order some of those mugs - they're not only so pretty, they're a nice big size. I love a big coffee mug!
DeleteYou're so brave to have a white kitchen! My husband is a wonderful cook, but he can splash and splatter when he gets going. I can't imagine what that room would look like after a meal he made!
ReplyDeleteJean from Welcome to the Menagerie
I know - I hope that wasn't a bad choice! I told the hubs we may have to go back to cooking on a fold up table in the dining room (like we did during the remodel) so we don't mess up the cabinets! (The good thing is - you see the splashes/dirt right away on the white, so wipe them up right away. Hopefully they'll stay pretty and white!)
DeleteCongrats Jackie the kitchen looks stunning! I also LOVE the new dishes, including Rita's!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We are really enjoying it!
Deletehello rita its dennis the vizsla dog hay i luv yore noo bowls it is nice to be reeminded that yoo ar a gud dog after evry meel!!! oh and also the noo kitchen luks nice too!!! hay my mama and dada got a noo dishwasher a fyoo yeerz ago after beeing withowt wun for like a yeer after there old wun broke and they got wun with sum kind of majik water soffener thing inside of it!!! to kalibrayt it they had to test there water with a kit to see how hard the water wuz and aparently it wuz off the skayl!!! hoo noo water cud be that hard??? it seems to stil be a likwid wen i drink it!!! ok bye
ReplyDeleteHahaha. Well, that's good that it's not SO hard that it's become a solid. But we have the same thing - a water softener in the dishwasher now, and same here - we tested our water and it was also off the chart. I foresee myself buying a lot of salt to keep that water softener working!
