The Opposite of Bitey-Face

Last week I shared a lot of bitey-face photos, which is mostly what's been going on around here since Reg came to stay with us for two weeks. This week I thought I'd share the opposite of bitey-face: the much-less-often-captured-but-just-as-cute Snuggle Sessions. (Note: sessions are generally brief since Rita ain't much of a snuggler.)

This is Rita's spot on the sofa - the corner of it beside me. Reg would often insert himself between the two of us. Here he is, resting his head on Rita's haunch. (Say it with me: "Awwww.")
Or if there's not room between Rita and I, he just crams his way in in front of her.

If Rita would switch to the other end of the sofa, Reg would too. And if my leg was already there, well, he'd just lie on top of it. (Note that he looks ready for anything, while she just wants to sleep.)

Here they are again, but in opposite positions. And with Rita trying to take up as much room as possible - probably hoping he'd move elsewhere.

There was a brief moment of cute cuddling in (one of) her bed(s)...

...but that quickly broke out into some bitey-face...

... but then that gave way to this adorbs pic.

And then that led to this even cuter pic - probably my fave of his visit. He loves her so, giving her a sweet kiss. Meanwhile, she sticks out her tongue and winces. She's such a brat!

The other morning he got (boosted) up in the bed with us, and immediately lay down beside Rita.

She flopped over to give herself some room...

...so he flopped over too. She actually was sweet to him and let him cuddle her like that for a good long while.

If he was desperate, he'd even come and snuggle with me. But that was a last resort, since I'd usually try to turn it into a selfie-opp.

The sweetest was when they'd both snuggle in in the mornings with me or the hubs. (One more time... all together: "Awwwww.")

Do your dogs like to snuggle? If so, I'm jealous! Rita rarely snuggles with us. She likes her space!

  1. These dogs take the cutest darn pics. Cassius loves to cuddle...Booker T, not so much, even though he loves attention. Every once in a while we will catch them sleeping close together, and if T is especially quiet, Cass will go check on him which usually results in licks on the face which then wakes him up.

    1. That's so cute that Cass will check on T. Sounds like T feels the same about cuddling as Rita!

  2. I'm a member of the Aw... Choir :-) Such great photos! Rudy and Rosie are not snugglers. Oh, Rosie will snuggle for short moments as long as you're rubbing her tummy or there are snacks involved. And she does like to sit on my lap. Rudy only snuggled with Jeffie. He and Rosie never snuggle. Which is probably why I'm pretty crazy about that photo of Rita and Reggie spooning!

    1. That's funny that Rosie will sit on your lap but doesn't like to cuddle. Sometimes (if it's chilly) she'll lie next to me and put her head on my lap. Love that!

  3. What a cuddler! And a cutie. Rita doesn't seem too impressed with all the cuddling though.

    1. Oh, that's a bummer. If we had a 2nd dog, I'd expect a lot of cute cuddling sessions.

  6. These are adorable. After one picture my guys would have gone into hiding.

This reminds me of the meme "We were wolves once, wild & wary, stealth & cunning, then we noticed you had couches"

  7. Reg looks pretty pleased with himself.

  8. oh no, no snuggling. When he does, it's usually to beg for food, or he's scared of some noise. LeeAnna

    1. Yeah, Rita is a mercenary snuggler too - usually only does it when it's cold out. (Which isn't often enough here!)

  9. Mr. N is rarely on me but he likes to curl up right next to me.

    1. Rita has never ever sat ON me, but she does sometimes curl up next to me - if it's chilly.

  11. Jimmy definitely likes to snuggle and even sit in John's lap while he watches TV. Wilson, not at all!

    1. Really? That's funny. I would have thought Jimmy would be too active to be a snuggler. I pictured Wilson as being more snuggly!

  12. Those two are adorable! Bailie and I are snugglers, although, Bailie is a super snuggler. Katie has never been big on snuggles.

    1. Oooo, a super snuggler?? I think Reg is a super snuggler with Rita - but just a regular level snuggler with me.

  13. First of all - your commentaries along with some of those photos are priceless. I'm laughing out loud. I love to see the two of them together. They seem to really enjoy each other's company. Harley is a smuggler, Jaxson could be but he's never still enough to snuggle. He goes non stop until bed time and then he just passes out.

Funny about Jax. Sounds a little bit like Reg - he's go go go but he does squeeze in a little time for snuggles!

  14. Aw, these two really love hanging out together. I bet it's so fun watching them both play and snuggle. Haley's a snuggler. She's laying here right beside me on the loveseat while I type this comment, haha!

    1. Awww, that's sweet. Rita lays next to me on the sofa, but she doesn't snuggle up right against me unless it's chilly!

  15. Oh. my. gosh, those snaps are beyond adorable❣️But my favorite was the one where Reg was on top of Rita. I'm sure she wasn't quite as keen, but golly...that was just precious!

  16. Mabel is the best snuggler of the three. Neither Bailey or Hazel can get on the couches anymore and we don't help them up for fear they would hurt themselves by jumping down so Mabel gets the couch snuggles all to herself
At night Bailey sleeps on a pillow above my head. Hazel will either be on the hubs pillow, or down by our feet. Once again Mabel snuggles right up to one of us - usually me!

    1. Rita snuggles with the hubs in the wee hours. She sleeps on her own, but around 30 min before we get up, she hops up in bed and snuggles in against his legs. He loves that!

  17. So much cuteness!!! I knew they must stop, once in a while, for a minute anyway. :)
Luke is a big snuggler, Cricket likes to be next to us, but down by our legs where we won't bug her. Sheba rarely snuggles, she likes her space, but then it's even more special when she does, right?

    1. That's right - when they rarely snuggle it does make it super special when they do it!

  18. OMG, so cute! Don't get me wrong. I loves me some bitey face. But these snuggle shots are just oh-so sweet. Thanks for sharing them! Liam the pug will snuggle with any person, but he rarely snuggles with pets these days. I miss those moments, so your photos are extra special to me.

  24. Cooper and Charlie take up the entire bed (or couch) and I squeeze in, into a small crevice -- i.e., whatever is left of the mattress. I have to put three books on the bed to outline a space for me before bedtime, or there will be nowhere for mommy to sleep. Fugeddabout getting under the covers!

In the morning, they do bitey-face ON the bed, while I am trying to sleep. One of these days, I'll take video of it. It is insanity. They both weigh over 80 lbs.

    1. Wow - that's a lotta dog in the bed! You definitely need to video that! Cracks me up that you put books on the bed to outline your area. You need those orange safety cones. :)
