Your Face Is Going To Freeze That Way

Did your mom ever say that to you? Mine used to when I was a kid. I've been saying it to these two nuts a lot, since they play a lotta bitey face.

Most of my pics of them are just a blur, but I got a few where you can at least get the gist of the bitey face/ear/leg games they like to play.

In Other News....
Okay, last week I showed you the spot I'd found on Rita and told you about how we had to have it removed after the vet found mast cells... well, if you haven't already seen the good news on Facebook or Instagram - it was benign!

Yay for B9!!!

The vet said it was a "superficial cavernous hemangioma" - which doens't sound that great, does it? (Well, except for the "superficial" part....) He said the "cavernous" part of it explains why it got smaller. And the hemangioma part is a benign version of a malignant hemangiosarcoma. (Phew!)

He said it's probably from sun exposure - which is odd since it was in her armpit. She does like to sun on the deck for a few minutes each day, and I suppose her hair is thinner there, so maybe that's why?

Anyway, he said she'll likely be prone to them (some dogs just are apparently), and we might have to have them removed if they're in spots where they get aggravated and might rupture.

So, it was all good news, but she is NOT going to be happy when we head back to the vet later this week to get her stitches out!

Did your parents (or older siblings) ever tell you, "Your face is going to freeze that way"? (And THANK YOU for all the pawsitive thoughts!)

  1. So glad you and Rita got good news!

My mom used to say that as well as "Your finger is going to get stuck in there!" if she caught a nose-pick :-0 LOL!

    1. It is fun to watch them - just wish I could get non-blurry pics! I also need to try to capture a video of him walking under her.

  3. I was keeping my fingers crossed that when I checked in this week you would have good news. Give Rita a huge hug from me and the boys! I love it when my "kid" play bitey-face. It's so fun to watch. And yes, I remember having that said to me a time or two as a kid.

I had to make a vet run yesterday for meds because Booker has a scab on his doggy elbow (left over from the infamous Cass incident) that keeps breaking open. Luckily my vet is awesome and prescribed stuff without bringing in Booker or having an appointment. We love our vet!

    1. I will definitely give Rita a big hug from you and the boys. That's so nice you didn't have to bring him along to the appt! Wish there was a way to do that for Rita... but not sure that would work since she needs her stitches out. If I was adventurous, I could take them out myself...... but that's not happening! :)

    3. Yeah, sounds like something my dad or brother would have done/would do - but, me? not so much!

  4. HOORAY for Rita's good news! Bitey face is so much fun, I really like when deaf Trail and blind Hiker get going. Yes, there are a lot of misses.

  9. Yay for the good news! Tell Rita to have an extra treat on me when she goes back to get the stitches out! Maybe it will cheer her up some.

Reggie and Rita are both so cute :)

  10. Thank goodness for that good news about Rita! Haley had one of those several years ago on her foot and we were so relieved it was b9 too. Thankfully, she hasn't had another one and I hope Rita stays that way too.😊 Give her a big hug from me and Haley tonight!

  12. I was thrilled to hear your good news. Darn dogs and their bumps.

I love bitey faces. But it's amazing how scary people who don't know dogs find it.

    1. Yes, true - folks who don't know think it's mighty scary. It's all "sound and furry, signifying nothing."

  13. Love the bitey face pics! And the noise that usually accompanies that playtime...makes me giggle. Congrats to you and ear scratches to Rita for being B9!! That's pawsome news! 💗

    1. Rita is SO noisy during bitey face games. Reg is pretty quiet, although he does snap his jaws at her repeatedly to try to entice her into a game.

  14. Those two are just so fun to watch together! I'm familiar with that phrase, but I don't think my parents actually said that to us.
We are so happy for Rita's good news!

  21. Great news for Rita, and you! Every time I find a lump on one of my dogs, I worry.

Yes, my mother always told me my face was going to freeze like that, I wonder why they say that?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I wonder too what the origin of that saying is?? Maybe someone noticed that folks that scowled all the time ended up with lines on their faces, or folks that were happy had laugh lines. So... if you make a goofy/pouty face all the time... I dunno. I'm grasping at straws here. And trying not to scowl.
