Life's a Beach - Part Deux

I used to have a long-sleeved, pink "Life's a Beach" T-shirt when I was in college. I LOVED that shirt and wore it constantly. Then someone stole it out of the dryer in the dorm laundry room. (People suck sometimes.) Anyway, I've lived the vast majority of my life near a beach and I've always loved that phrase.

When I wrote the title for this post (it started as just "Life's a Beach), I wondered if I'd already used that title, given my love of the phrase. Turns out I did... over 4 years ago - and it was a sad post. It was just a few days before our girl, Abby, died and we knew the end was imminent. Hence the "part deux" in the title. (I'm all sniffly now from re-reading that old post, so let's get on to some fun beach pics of me and Rita...)

Life's a beach, part deux is all about the smiles!

We'd only been at the beach like one minute, and her nose already had sand on it.
"What?"
I took this one because I wanted to show how cool the wall is - it's all stones with the occasional abalone shell tucked in. (So cool!) But I managed to get hardly any of the shells in the shot!

Nothing like a freshly raked beach!

This one didn't really come out that great because of the shadow/light the way it is... but...

... I got a hysterical blooper pic while posing her in that spot, so here it is. Best for last!

Feel like I should ask y'all to caption that last pic.

Here's mine: That moment when your mom tells you you're adopted. Or... (because I watch too much TV...) "I can't believe it's not butter!" (BTW, don't feed your dogs butter! But.. you knew that.)

  1. I have never lived near a beach, but it's always been my dream. Most of my life has been in the Chicago area and while we do have Lake Michigan, it's not the same as the ocean. My mom's whole family lives on the west coast (aside from her) and my dad's whole family on the east coast. So, I spent lots of time on both coasts and oceans as a kid. I always intended to move and leave on one of the coasts near the ocean, but it hasn't worked out that way. Still hoping!

    1. I haven't seen much of the east coast. I want to do some traveling along there - lots of good beaches to explore!

We lived away from the ocean for ~3years and I felt a real NEED to get back by the ocean. Even though I almost never go IN it, I need to be by it. :)

  2. We so miss living right by the beach, but then living in the US is so much better than Germany for us overall. There is always a trade off. Enjoy the beach, cutie.

  3. How about "You're telling me Reg is visiting for HOW long?" I'm always amazed at what great pictures you get - I mainly get blurs. I haven't been to the beach in ages...guess that's what I get for living in the hills of WV.

    1. Haha. I like that one. Nice Reg reference.

The hills of WV sound nice! I pretty much have to be by nature - if not the ocean, the mountains would be an okay substitute. :)

  4. Rita is a good beach dog. Mine would be running around trying to find something dead and disgusting to roll in. That is how so many of our beach days end.

    1. Luckily she's pretty good about that. We saw a dead bird yesterday - but luckily since she's always on leash, I could keep her away from it!

  5. Oh fun! Do they rake the beach every day?

    1. I don't know if it's every day or only every day during the summer. It makes it look so clean and pretty! (Which it needs cuz people are litterbugs! We spent part of our walk picking up trash by the waterline. Oy. Litterbugs make me nuts, especially since there are TONS of trash cans on the beach!)

  6. Haha. Good one. She does have that A-OOO-GA (sp?) look on her face like cartoon characters get when they see a hottie. :)

  8. I'm always tempted to add captions to the blooper photos, too! I know the photos are funny as they are, but the word part seems to make them somehow better.

  9. Our mom grew up in the Bay Area about 30 minutes from the coast but amazingly they did not go to the beach that often

    1. If it weren't for Rita, I might not go that much either. Although I do really like to run down there!

    1. hahahaha. Good one! (Rita's daddy wears a Speedo when he swims - but he is a serious swimmer. And doesn't have an ounce of blubber on him, darn him!)

  13. I had to go read the old post and get all sniffly too. But then I came back and all of the cute photos of Rita cheered me up!
It's always been my dream to live on the ocean, but I'll probably have to settle for my one weekend a year there. :(

  14. I love every one of your photos and love seeing the sand on Rita's nose. Maybe that last photo is "time to go home ALREADY?" At least that's the face our kids used to make.

  15. We live near the beach too, which you probably already knew, since I post 87 million pictures of the collies on the beach! But our beaches aren't as nice as yours! I love that wall made of rocks and shells!
