I must be addicted to my dog.
Okay, the second thing I reach for is my phone. (Technically, my iPad.)
Is your pet the first thing you reach for in the morning?
In Other News...
Check out this post from The Chronicles of Cardigan. Did you know that Elizabeth (aka Dewi and Jon Farleigh's mom - cuz most of us know the dogs' names more than the people's names, right?) hosts a weekly #CardiComedy chat on Twitter on Sundays?
Well, this Sunday she's giving away a copy of BOTH my books (What the Dog Ate and Rescue Me, Maybe - in the medium of your choice) to one lucky participant! Future giveaways are also planned so stop by Elizabeth's blog for more info - and for a laugh, cuz her posts are always hysterical.
Thanks, Elizabeth!
A rule in our house that no TV n phones in all the bedrooms (cell phones are always in the drawers)... so the first thing we touch/kiss is Sugar. Happy BlogPaws WW. Golden Woofs
ReplyDeleteWe also have the no TV rule, but we do bring our phone and ipad in the bed. The hubs works with all different time zones so has to check in last thing at night and first thing in the a.m. And I like to read on my ipad, so I always have it by the bed.
DeleteActually yes, my momma gives me kisses and snuggles first thing in the morning, before she even kisses my daddy - WOOF! Momma says thanks for the reminder she probably should kiss daddy first - BOL!
ReplyDeleteYep, Rita gets the kisses and snuggles first too. :)
Delete... I admit my phone is the first thing. Then I ask Mr. N if he slept well!
ReplyDeleteNicely put on spot on. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
My peep is addicted! She always gives me a little pat and then I push under the covers for an extra half hour nap while she gets up.
ReplyDeleteI wake every morning to 3 sets of eyes watching me. Having sensed I'm "coming to" they politely wait until I whisper "Good Morning" to them. Then it's a love fest :-)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds adorable. I usually wake up before Rita but as soon as I stir, she reaches out a paw or sits up and looks at me.
DeleteActually, my answer to that would be yes!
ReplyDeleteFirst her coffee and then us, if hers sits down first then its us.....and the rest of the day it is us, and at nighttime it is us, ...um.....we seem to take up a lot of hers time......
ReplyDeletestella rose
That definitely sounds like a pug addiction to me!
DeleteOh, Ma reaches for me first and we cuddle. Then, of course she reaches for the iBone. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteHappy WW,
Oz
Yep, sounds like our house Oz. :)
DeleteWhat a sweet picture. Bella is usually the first one up so she reaches for me. But when I wake first, the very first thing I do in the morning is check my left side where her bed resides and try to resist tickling her toes. :)
ReplyDeleteMy glasses are the first thing I reach for after I reach for the alarm. I must be addicted to seeing. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGotta see the pooches!
DeleteActually, I don't even have a smart-phone (or an IPad), so there would be no point in reaching for it! (I've never sent a text in my life! LOL!)
ReplyDeleteWilson usually gets my focus......
I only recently got a smart phone. Texting is pretty handy, I must admit.
DeleteOh yes the pugs are first since they are cuddled right in bed with us. Definitely addicted to pugs!
ReplyDeleteAnother pug addiction!
DeleteYou know, you're right I am the first thing she reaches for in the morning! Its to make sure she knows where I am so she doesn't squash me getting out of bed! Love Dolly
ReplyDeleteNobody wants to squash the puppy first thing in the morning!
DeleteAccording to your post, I'm addicted to my phone. Beamer got a new bed, so he never sleeps in mine anymore. I'd have to get out of bed to reach for him!
ReplyDeleteRita mostly sleeps in her own bed lately, but even if she does, she gets in bed with us for like the last hour of the morning, so she's always in easy reach.
DeleteI guess we're all guilty then! :) Though I do technically reach for my phone first since it's got my alarm on it! XD
ReplyDeleteI must be addicted to caffeine. LOL. Lucky winner who gets your books too. Great prize!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Roxy!
DeleteMy dogs aren't funny. :( And the first thing I grab is my iPhone and my glasses, as I stumble out of the room. The dogs really do come first, since I let them out to the bathroom before turning the phone on. I almost never lay in bed once I'm awake. The dogs know I'm awake and pace by the bedroom door, waiting to go out to potty.
ReplyDeleteOh, do they not sleep in the same room with you?
DeleteUs pets are the first thing, then Mom heads to the computer, the phone, not so much.
ReplyDeleteI grab for the ipad to check email (after petting Rita) and the hubs grabs his phone for the same reason, and then I check and see if I have any new reviews on Amazon, cuz I'm addicted to that too.
DeleteYes I'd say lots of dog addicts on this blog hop XS Talent Hounds
ReplyDeleteLOL...yup, dogs first, then TV remote (for the news!), and then phone or tablet. Since Luke came I spend more time watching/playing with the dogs than on my phone when I don't have to get right up. Before that, the other dogs pretty much went back to sleep so I was on my phone more.
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing stuff about the CardiComedy on FB and wondered what it was all about...will have to check it out.
No lounging in bed with a puppy in the house!
DeleteBentley reaches for me first thing every morning and I reciprocate so we're addicted to each other! Oh, I would love to read your books!
ReplyDeleteThanks! And, yes, I guess Rita is addicted to me too! :)
DeleteThe first thing I reach for is the dogs but that is only to move them so I can untangle myself and make it to the coffee machine. I love my dogs but I am an early morning coffee addict. For me it is coffee, dogs, lap top ... phone doesn't even come into play for hours but I get up at 4AM and no one wants to hear from me then!
ReplyDeleteWe grab our phones for emailing. Easier to check email while laying in bed than dragging over to the computer. :) 4 a.m. Egad!
DeleteI am also a dog addict. Maybe we need to start a group:)
ReplyDeleteHi, my name is Jackie, and I'm a dog addict. ("Hi, Jackie...")
DeleteWell, given that he is sitting at the side of the bed and a trip over him when I get up...yep, Jack's the first thing I reach for.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I was going to say my dog before I saw the bottom! I'm addicted to my dogs!
ReplyDeleteJackie, my Golden Retriever, Phoenix, has been the first thing I've reached for going on 10 years now. Best. 10. Years. Ever :)
ReplyDelete:) Happiness is Golden!
DeleteYep! I have the same problem!
ReplyDeleteLOL I do reach for my dogs. Actually you really can't do anything else in this house.
ReplyDeletevery sweet :) My dog lays between me & the computer so I have no choice but to give him the first bit of attention :)
ReplyDeleteToo sweet. By me...Leah gets pets first, since her bed is on the floor right next to me. Then Toby usually wanders over for attention when he hears me talking to Leah. Meadow is last, but only cause she's crated at night. (We've tried letting her free several times....but she won't stay in her own bed and instead tries to share beds with the other two, who don't appreciate it, so I worry about fights / AND if it thunders out, she tries to hide behind her bed in a space that is way too small for her...)
ReplyDeleteI reach for my pet too. Great picture.
ReplyDeleteIf Mo's in the room near the bed, I definitely reach for him first - but in the mornings he's most often just outside the door on the cool tile floor, in which case, the phone is definitely #1. A habit I tried briefly to break once. Clearly didn't work!
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't reach out for the phone AND I don't reach out for my cat. BECAUSE the cat generally reaches out to me first! lol
ReplyDeleteI am reading What the Dog Ate now and am trying to work out why I like your writing so much (apart from the fact you write so well)! And I think it's because you manage to engage with the reader - this reader anyway! I feel I am reading about a friend .... or even me, in another life! lol Looking forward to the next one ;)
Thanks so much, Carolyn! I really appreciate that! I do try to write things that seem very true-to-life, so I'm glad you find that it's like reading about a friend.
DeleteI am so addicted to all my pets. I tend to think in terms of 'dog' all the time. :)
