Tap-Dancing Dog

This girl LOVES to play with her Himalayan cheese chews. Almost as much as she likes to eat them. (Those of you who are on Instagram have probably already seen this.)

Love that entrance!

Good thing we have a tap-dancing floor. (Seriously. The people who lived here before us put one of those slightly bouncy aerobics floors in the sun room. Apparently, they used it for tap-dancing.)

Himalayan cheese is THE most awesome thing to Rita - you can play with it, and when you get bored, you can eat it!

But wait! There's more!

You can even use your Himalayan cheese as a pillow!

Rita says, "It's suuuuuuper comfy." **zzzzzzzz**

Does your dog ever play with his/her food? :)

  1. Hilarious. Scout only eats her Himalayan cheese, preferably as quickly as possible. She doesn't bandy it about or snooze on it. To her, all food is for inhaling in about 2 seconds. It doesn't last long enough to play with.

    1. Seriously. She needs a little Fred Astaire to dance with!

  3. That's really cute! There is absolutely no food play in this house! It is serious business. GULP and gone! I think with 2 dogs, the competition speeds things up. I never feed Himalayan chews as I am too worried they won't chew and will just swallow.

    1. True - when Reg is around we pick up the antlers and chews as I'm sure she wouldn't want to play with her food when there's competition afoot! (apaw...)

  4. Cheese as a pillow! Now, there's an idea. Ruby eats too fast to stop and play. LOL

    1. Yes, so many uses. The best is when it finally gets down to just a little nub of a chew, you can microwave it and it becomes a crunchy treat. An excellent finale for such a multi-purpose treat!

  6. Every once in a while the boys will get extra energetic and start tossing their treats in the air. I will have to check out that because Cass loves anything cheese.

    1. If he's not one to gobble down his treats, it could be a great one for him. Rita is not a super powerful chewer, so these things literally last for months.

  7. Instead of playing with her chews Mini likes to hide them. One of her favorite places to is under my pillows!

Rita is such a cutie and I thought the video was great!

    1. We had a beagle who loved to hide her chews too - usually in the sofa pillows. The funny thing was, even if there was nothing there to hide it with, she'd "pretend" cover it with "dirt", sort of shoving "dirt" in place with her head. So funny to watch. :)

  8. LOL...That's too cute. No playing with food around here, just chomping it all down.

    1. I guess our girl is definitely in the minority on this one!

But we also had a beagle who liked to chase apples, and then eat them. (There was an apple tree at the top of a hill near where we lived. The apples would fall out of the tree and roll down the hill and she'd take off after them, then take a bite!)

  9. She certainly has fun with that cheese! My Lily dog acts the same way with her carrots (expect the pillow part).

    1. Oh, that's funny. Finally! Another dog that plays with her food! (Rita won't eat carrots! I wish she would!)

  10. No playing with food here. Someone might steal it, playing is for only dogs.

    1. Yes, good point. She has the luxury of not having to worry about theft.

I don't normally play with my food, I just eat it.

  13. Hahahaha!! I think Rita enjoys the fact that her antics make you laugh-she looks so pleased with herself!

Maybe Rita thinks sleeping on it will make the Himalayan Cheese Fairy come and leave her another chew.

    1. The only problem with this floor for waltzing and foxtrotting and rumbaing is that it's a tiny room! You'd have to waltz/foxtrot/rumba in a very small circle. :) (Personally, I just use it for yoga.)
