Actually, by the time it's really Wordless Wednesday, we're supposed to have cooled off a lot, but the last few days have been miserable. It's bad enough to have the post-vaca blues, but post-vaca blues + a heat wave is really no fun!
San Diego is known for it's perfect weather.... but 103 degrees? Nope, not perfect!
It was so hot on Monday (the day my car was showing it was 103 out) that at the shelter where I volunteer they asked us not to walk the adoptable dogs. There's a lot of asphalt in the areas where we can walk, and the center was afraid they dogs would burn their paws. Luckily we also have some grassy fields (with shade!) to play in, so we mostly did that.
Or there's always the option to just hang out in the kennels. Here I am hanging out in a kennel, cluing this cute puppy in to how awesome belly rubs are!
I'm happy to report that it looks like this cutie was adopted today, since her pic is no longer up on the site. Yay!
As for Rita, she's not a fan of this weather either! We normally go to the beach a couple of mornings a week anyway, but this morning we definitely wanted to head there!
Rita was a much happier girl after she dunked in the cold water!
Next week I'll share some pics from our vaca last week! Thanks for all the nice anniversary wishes!
How's your weather? Please, let me enjoy the fall vicariously through you! Is it sweaters and jeans weather??
Thanks to BlogPaws for hosting Wordless Wednesday! Stop by their site to check out all of the other blogs in the hop.
We are happy to be in the cool weather. Summer and heat are not something we enjoy at all. Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteSame here! Summer is my least favorite season - and Rita agrees!
DeleteI just got back from over 2 weeks in Myrtle Beach. Definitely not fall down there! First morning back in NoVa right now and it's 63, so, yeah, Fall! Dogs are delighted! (However, we've had a horrible drought for a while so not sure how the fall colors will turn out.)
ReplyDeleteWe've had a terrible drought too - but the liquidamber trees seem to be turning colors anyway. 63 sounds lovely right now!
DeleteOur neck of the woods only got the memo to cool down yesterday. We definitely aren't used to 90+ degrees in the middle of September. Of course, now that the mornings are cooler, I'm going to have to go through my closets and sort out the cooler weather clothing. That puppy is adorable and I'm hoping he did get adopted. Also, so glad Rita can hang and play by the ocean. Tell her Cass and Booker T say hi!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to have the ocean here for cooling off! I can't wait to get out my boots and jeans and sweaters!!
DeleteFall is hear in Idaho - we had cool rainy weather last weekend - warmed up again for a couple of days and rain and thunderstorms arriving tonight with a cool down.

Oh, I'm so jealous of your rain! They say we might get a little bit in about 10 days, but we'll see if that happens!
DeleteHoly smokes, that really is too hot. My dogs just melt when it's over 85. Thankfully, it's much cooler here these days. I hope that cool stuff hits you soon!
ReplyDeleteJean from Welcome to the Menagerie
Rita and I are the same - we like it to be 80 or less! (Of course not too much less...... I have a pretty small window of weather that I like - 65 - 79 is what I like! Luckily, that's usually what it is here by the coast in SD!)
Deleteit's been a bit more seasonal here this week. We had our share of the 105 deg heat this year. Now rain rain rain rain. That pup looked a lot like Rita.
ReplyDeleteforgot to say, Cole's friend Sydney burned the pads on all feet running around a tennis court one summer. It took a long time to heal so it's no joke.
DeleteWow - that's awful about the burnt pads! That is no joke!
DeleteWish we could get some of your rain!
wow and here its getting cold
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for it to be cold here! (although our idea of "cold" isn't that bad!)
DeleteIt's above seasonable, but certainly not as hot as yours! Yikes. Those kind of temps should be illegal. Hope it gets better STAT. For both of us though it's quite crisp in the mornings. 😎
ReplyDeleteSupposed to really start cooling down tomorrow and then even more Friday. I can't wait!
DeleteWe were having nice weather. Unfortunately it was the entire time hubby was in the hospital so we both missed it. Now it is cool and rainy. I want the nice crisp cool autumn days.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm sorry to hear your hubby was in the hospital! Hope he's feeling better now, and hope you get some of that lovely crisp weather to enjoy!
DeleteWhat a perfect way to spend a super hot, 103 degree day! Belly rubs in the AC and getting adopted!
ReplyDeleteActually... no a/c at the kennels. They're outdoors (it is So Cal afterall). They have heated floors and roll-down canvas flaps for the winter, but in the summer we just have to sweat it out!
DeleteOh my dog that's insane heat for San Diego! Try and stay cool!
ReplyDeleteTotally insane! Can't wait for the cooler weather!
DeleteI love summer and will hold onto it as long as I can.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could send you our summer weather!
DeleteWe're still high 80's / low 90's. We will get lower temps (maybe about 10-15 degrees lower) about mid December. I too miss the cool crisp breeze from time to time.
ReplyDeleteWow - didn't realize it was so warm so late there!
DeleteI hope that you stayed there all day!! It looks like the perfect place to ride out super hot days!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't stay all day - dogs have to be off the beach by 9a.m. Such a bummer!
DeleteWay too hot there! A cold front came through here a couple of days ago, so now it's cold at night (well, 50's) and warm in the afternoon (about 80 degrees). We've hit that time of year where you need to change clothes at lunchtime and then again at dinner time. LOL Rugy and Rosie love it!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind it being hot during the day as much if it cools off at night. Good sleeping weather!
DeleteWow, 103 in San Diego?? That's unbelievable, you usually have the best weather of anyone! It's nice & cool here on the East coast, but a bit rainy. Hope it cools down soon - great Beach photos, Rita looks adorable! Glad to hear of the adoption too, great to save one more pup!
ReplyDeleteLove & biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
I know - we DO usually have the best weather. And we're used to that! :) We get cranky when we don't have the best weather.
DeleteYikes...we had a warm September, but 103 degrees?? Rita has the right idea...the beach is the only place to be when it's like that!
ReplyDeleteWe are getting the fall weather now...jeans, yes, sweaters not quite yet. Just sweatshirts in the mornings and evenings. Very nice. :)
Oh, I'm jealous. I can't wait to get out my jeans and boots!
Deletehello pooch smooches its dennis the vizsla dog hay the kompyooter sed it wuz a hunnerd and five heer in the mithikal sitty of oshunside that day!!! dada sed he has never ever ever ever seen it that hot heer befor!!! fortchoonatly we had tuckers air kondishoner running full blast!!! ok bye
ReplyDeleteWe're glad fall has come. Last week (in Northern CA) we set a record at 100. Today it was 70 and rained. Hopefully San Diego will be cooling off soon.
ReplyDeletewowzers that is hot, just my kind of weather. Cute puppy!
